Chapter One: Adrian

546 Words
All in the name of “family reunion”I spent my weekend with my family who weren't skilled in the fine act of minding their business. “Why aren't you spending Thanksgiving with us?” Mom asked me. “You barely ever spend time with us,it either your here or there but you never stay at home with us” To be honest I had it in mind to stay over a month with them but when you have busy friends that travel around almost everyday and finally make time for a reunion, you just have to make it your priority to be there. “Mom, I would've really loved to stay, but you know that I have plans with the guys to attend”. “But you know how my friends are all over the place and we never actually have time to meet up” “Bro,I know you're gay, when are you going to tell Mom?” My little sister, Georgia, asked. “Exactly! Because there's no reasonable explanation to why you don't stay at home with us most times”, her twin brother,James, added These two always seem to have something up their sleeves. It's either one stupid assumption or the other. “I am so sorry that I have to leave again, but I can't miss out on this particular meetup with the guys but I'll make it up to y'all” “With grandchildren at least” I heard my mom whisper I laughed. “Mom,you know that marriage, children or anything of that sort is not my priority and I've made it clear more times than I can that I don't want to have children -at least not right now”. “I mean it can't be so bad to have someone call me aunt” Georgia said while clearing the dishes “Mom, I have a plane to catch in a few hours time,so I have to run along”. I really had to say anything to get out of there cause it's always one thing or the other. Before you know it I would miss my flight and end up here with them. “Son,don't get it wrong. we love you and want what is best for you but please consider it”. Mom is always guilt-tripping me anyway possible. “Mom,I'll think about it but it's not my priority right now okay?” “I understand . Hurry up so that the driver can drop you off”. “Okay,Mom!” I had to pack up some clothes, I threw some stuff into my bag. I was already out in time to meet my siblings arguing with Mom I'm going to miss this We said our goodbyes ,and I didn't want to give them the satisfaction of knowing that I'd miss them. In due time they'll find out -but not now. I don't know what the beach house is going to feel like, but I look forward to having a good time there.I think Morgan said something about proposing to Lisa, and I really think it's about time he did. For some reason, I think mom is actually right about me sett ling down, but that is an issue for another day.
