‘That was brilliant work, Oscar,’ Rose Cattani said brightly. ‘Things are looking up.’
The court had adjourned for a break and the three lawyers, together with Angelo and his wife, were crammed into the small interview room.
‘It was very well done, Oscar,’ Lena added. ‘You’ve earned your keep today.’
Oscar held up one hand to acknowledge the comment.
Matthew cleared his throat for the tenth time that morning. ‘Reggie was never much of a threat,’ he said. ‘Even Mannheim realised that. He knew they needed someone higher up the food chain to tip the scales. In this case, a nice juicy copper, and to top it off – Angelo’s partner.’
