*Chapter 4
Vacation was over. There were so many things I wanted to fix within myself, but I knew I desperately needed a vacation away from the city or even the country. I didn’t want to put that expense on my parents, so I started looking for a part-time job at a coffee shop near the university. I went to the interview and right away they told me I was hired.
The place was a little small and cramped. They introduced me to my coworkers, then they assigned me the tasks I would do today.
“_Clean the shelves and the cutlery, then you’ll go attend to the customers_” —she said, turning around.
I took out the trash that was outside, and then I cleaned everything.
“_If you’re done, can you leave?_” —the boss said.
“_Yes, I already took out the trash and cleaned the cutlery_”
“_Go get some rest. Tomorrow we’ll have a lot of customers because some foreigners are coming_” —he said, turning around.
It was already very late and I was so tired. It had been a bit of a heavy day. University, work, my emotions.
I was walking down the street when I heard a voice that sounded familiar. I turned to see who it was. It was the boy from my insecurities, and from my thoughts.
“_Harper, what are you doing alone at this hour?_” —he said, smoking a cigarette and looking at me for a while.
“_I got a part-time job as a waitress_” —I said, trying not to sound a little sad.
“_Do you want to go for a walk tonight?_” —he said with a smile on his face.
“_Okay._”
We walked to the beach. We sat down and then we started talking.
“_Favorite color?_”
“_Brown. Yours?_” —I said.
“_Green. I love green._”
“_Favorite flower?_”
“_I don’t have one. I don’t really like flowers, but you should have one._”
“_Mine are tulips and daisies_” —I said, smiling a little.
“_A quote you love from a book._”
“_I would fall first for you, to unlock your pain._”
“_I’m here for you. I’ll never leave._”
“_Make one up._”
“_You first_” —I said.
“_Don’t look back, Harper, because it distracts you from the present._”
“_Be yourself. Don’t try to imitate anyone else. Reset and focus on your future_” —I said.
We spent a good while talking until I realized we were very close. His brown eyes were shining more. His lips looked tempting. My cheeks burned and my fast breathing was out of control. He was so close to me that I could feel the heat of his body against mine. His eyes moved closer to my lips.
He came closer to me slowly. He kept moving forward until there was no distance between us. I closed my eyes as I felt his lips on mine and one of his hands on my hip.
I tensed up a little. His lips were so soft, just like I had imagined. He started moving his lips against mine. He pressed me closer against him. He kissed me with so much delicacy that I could feel a tickle in my stomach.
