Chapter 11: You Heard the Lady

1322 Words
As I was walking in, I heard Reaper tell Dylan, “you heard the lady. Don’t make her say it again.” I was sure that Dylan had left and Reaper would get all of the trackers off my vehicle. But he didn’t know about the bikes or Candy, and those would need to be checked too. Dom and Patch followed me inside. Patched asked if I was okay and I nodded. Then Dom started to speak, “Charlie, can I ask you something?” “You just did, Dom.” “No, really. Are you really a virgin?,” he asked. Reaper was coming in and told Dom to shut the f**k up. But I wasn’t embarrassed about it. “No Reaper, it’s okay. Yes Dom, I am. It’s by choice.” Dom’s eyes went a bit dark. She knew lust when she could see it, she saw the look on Dylan’s face more than once. But, he wasn’t creepy about it, just a horny dog. He told me how hard he was in that moment and I reminded him to just keep it to himself, because it wasn’t going to happen. Patch laughed and so did Reaper, which surprised me the most. “So I have a serious question,” Patch said. He continued, “why in the world did you say Texas or bust? You know we are headed back to Washington right?” “Yes, but I’ve dealt with him for some time, and I know he won’t give up. It will at least give me some time to get settled without trying to dodge him.” Reaper spoke up, “he’s been warned. If he comes around you again, his mother will have to bury him in pieces that she can find.” He said all this with a very straight face, and I believed him, so I’m sure Dylan did too. I told the boys I’d be leaving earlier than I planned to head to Washington with them. I asked the boys if they’d ride the bikes out, and that took not time to convince them. Reaper claimed one and so did Patch. I really thought that Dom didn’t, just so he could ride with me. Reaper thought the same. He told him if he didn’t act right, he’d get his ass beat, and would then have to deal with Bones. As if he heard someone calling his name, my phone rang. “Hi, Bones.” “Hi, sweetheart. Reaper filled me in. I know you have plenty of money, but I want you to know I have a place for you. Head out tomorrow and you can stay as long as you need. And if you have any more trouble with the damn kid, you let me know,” he said like a protective father: I hadn’t had anyone protect me like that since Ryan. It was nice. “Bones, I don’t want to impose. You’re kind enough to get me started out there. I can stay in a motel until I find a place,” but he interrupted me. “I won’t have it, you’ll stay in the condo. It’s nice and big. There’s plenty of room, and protection here.” I was instantly worried about Bo. “Bones, I have something to tell you though. I have a dog, and I know most landlords don’t want dogs.” He stopped me again. “Sweetheart, I heard about the moose of a dog you have. Bring him. I don’t mind, and you’re not imposing. I want you here, and Ryan would too.” That’s all he had to say to convince me to stay. “Okay, if you’re sure.” Then Bones asked to talk to Dom, so I handed the phone over. Dom added a couple, “got it Boss” and a few, “on it” phrases and was quickly off. By this point, it’s 3 AM. And we were all tired. I told the boys goodnight and headed to my room with Bo. The boys locked up the house and went to their rooms. It was nice for the house to not feel so lonely. The next morning, none of us woke up until 11:30. I was the first to emerge. I’m surprised Bo didn’t get more excited about going outside, but I guess the old man needed some sleep himself so he didn’t pay much attention to his bladder, and I’m thankful for that. I let Bo outside and fixed up his breakfast bowl. Then I moved to the human food to see what I had. I knew it couldn’t be that much, and when I opened the fridge, I realized just how right I was. I thought about DoorDashing, but thought the ride could be good for me. I threw on a pair of shorts and a tanktop and headed towards Candy. Felt like a good day to go for a ride, even if it was a short one. I left Bo in the house because he’s a good boy and he’s been trained well. And I knew he wouldn’t disturb the boys. I was able to get in and out of Publix pretty quickly. I grabbed eggs and bacon and some bread because who doesn’t like bacon and eggs. When I got back to the house, none of them were awake. I grabbed some pans and started frying the bacon. It was probably the second batch and Patch was down the stairs and in the kitchen. “Morning,” he said somewhat grumbly. I giggled, “you do know it’s 12:30 right? That’s no longer morning, that’s afternoon.” He mumbled something but it wasn’t coherent and I ignored it. He found the coffee pot quickly and started to get a cup. I’d say once he had his second cup, he was much more human. Around the time he began to act normal, Reaper came down. “Hello there Sleeping Beauty, I thought I might have to come up and give you a kiss to get your ass out of that bed,” Patch greeted him. “Try it and you die fucker,” Reaper just glared. Eventually, he spoke again, “I was on the phone with my old lady.” Patch began to tease Reaper about being whipped and of course caused me to chuckle silently at the thought of who could scare Reaper, but I didn’t say anything. When Patch started to talk about showing him who was whipped, I figured it was time to speak up, “boys, calm down or I’m not feeding either of you.” Then here comes Dom strutting in to the kitchen, walks up behind me as he’s putting his arms around my waist and draws in a deep breath. I’m not sure if he was taking in my scent, or the scent of the bacon, but I didn’t overthink it. I just told him to sit his ass down. I gave all the boys bacon and asked how they liked their eggs. Patch liked his sunny side up, Reaper liked them fried, and Dom wanted them over-medium. After we ate, I decided that I’d call a cleaning company to clean up the house before locking it up and taking off. This gave me time to pack some things too. I knew that most things would need to stay here until my next trip out. So I packed up the things, mostly clothes and some books, and of course, Ryan’s ashes. I came downstairs and the two boys were ready to jump on the bikes and head out. I gave them the keys and begged them to take care of the bikes. They promised and headed out. Dom stayed behind, because he was riding with me and Bo. I decided we would have more room if I drove the Passport, but I was taking Candy without a doubt!
