Chapter 1
They say when you die your whole life flashes before your eyes.
That was true for me. In my final moments my life flashed in front of me.
But it wasn’t my whole life that I watched pass by.
It was him. He was my life. Moments captured in time replayed for me to see. Taunting me as to what I had and will never again get to see. Tormenting my final moments of the love I am leaving behind.
Nothing around me matters any more, just the scenes playing in front of me.
As my lungs take in the last bit of air I will ever breathe I hear his voice calling to me. Begging me not to leave him.
I feel myself drifting off. The life I’m watching is coming to an end.

20 years earlier……
“Are you sure this is what you want Lyn?” Alisa asked the grief-stricken mother who clung to her grandchildren like they were the only lifeline for the sinking ship.
She sniffled before wiping the single tear that slid down her face. Black mascara stained her cheeks.
She took a deep breath before answering the Luna and woman she considered a daughter.
“Yes, Alisa. I’m the only family that they have left now. He will come for her and he will kill her just like he did to” her voice broke but she held back the tears this time and tried again.
“Like he did to her mother.”
Alisa grabbed onto each one of the boys and hugged them before placing them in the car.
Thunder rumbled through the night sky. Lightning illuminated the silhouette of the graves that Lyn, Alisa, and the children were surrounded by and the first few drops of rain started to fall on the anguished group’s umbrellas. The sound of the rain thudding against the material was deafening.
“Goodbye, my little Amelia.” Alisa bent and kissed the sleeping child on her head. Tears fell on the infants cheeks.
“Alisa come on we have to go now my love.” The Alpha gently pulled his wife away from the children in the car. She turned her face towards Lyn, the tears flowing freely now. She clenched her chest, the stab of heartbreak too much to bare. Not only had she lost her best friend but her children whom she loved dearly.
“We will always be here Lyn if you need anything.” The Alpha said as he passed the grandmother a card. She put it inside her bag and got into the car. Her coat was drenched from the downfall of rain now battering the roof of the car. She turned to look behind at the sleeping little girl and two boys who looked lost and broken.
“Come now my loves. We get to start a new adventure.” Lyn looked back out the window of the car. Her heart clenched, she couldn’t stand the thought of leaving her only daughter here alone but the three little cherubs in the back needed her, now more than ever.
20 years later……
I’m standing in a graveyard. The sky is black and the rain falls like it’s weeping for the loss of the person who is getting buried.
“Amelia” I hear a lady calling out to me. her voice is been carried on the wind. Her voice is majestic and it draws me in.
“I’m over here” I called back. My blonde hair is flowing freely in the wind. I’m younger, I only look to be about 6 or 7. I look around but there’s no one here I’m alone. I walk towards the graveside. It's the only thing I can make out. The dirt is all piled up around the hole in the ground waiting for the coffin to be lowered so the hole can be filled. As I get closer the darkness starts to creep in on me.
“Amelia” the beautiful voice shouts again. This time I can hear the distress in her voice she sounds further away now. “He’s coming Amelia run!”
I turn from the grave to run like I was told only to be grabbed by both my legs. I fall into the mud as hands break through the dirt and cling to my ankles, I kick and scream. Trying to free myself.
“You can’t hide from me, Amelia. You are mine and I’m coming.” The faceless man who’s haunted my dreams for as long as I can remember looms over me. His laugh echos around the empty cemetery. I try to kick the hands off so I can get away and run but he stands over me. I try to scream but no sound leaves my lips. He picks me up like a rag doll and tosses me into the hole. I try to climb out, my nails digging into the dirt but I just slip back down bringing the dirt with me. The rain is starting to fill the hole and the mud is making it like a bog. I’m being sucked into the brown murky water.
He stands over me looking down into the hole.
“Tell mi amor she can’t hide you from me.” He leaps down landing on top of me, he tilts my head to the side. His teeth latch onto my neck.
“ARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!” I shoot up bolt right panting. My sheets are sticking to my legs. The bed sheets are soaked in my sweat. My heart feels like it’s about to pound right out of my chest. I take a deep breath to try to calm myself down.
“Did you have another nightmare?” Nana asked. She walks into my room passing me a cup of herbal tea. “Here, drink this.” I take the cup and have a sip. I burn my lips and tongue so put the cup down on the bedside cabinet.
“Was it the same dream?” Nana asks.
“Yes, it was the same as the others, only this time he said he was coming for me.” I see Nana wince slightly when I say that.
“It’s just a dream right?” I say as I peel the sheets off my skin.
“Yeah of course. Just a dream.”
Later that night…
“I’m going to go home. I’ll see you tomorrow”
“Ok” my best friend Nina shouts over the loud music.
I grab my coat and my bag and prepare to leave the club we were in. I had agreed to go for a drink after my shift at the bar I work in. That led to us going to a club and I have to be up for my second job in less than 5 hours.
The wind is howling outside. Leafs dancing in the wind bristle past my feet. I pull my coat tight around myself to keep myself warmer.
The taxi office is on the next street so I make my way there.
Drunks stumble down the road singing loudly out of tune.
“Can I order a cab?” I ask the unpleasant lady behind the glass window.
“It will be here in 5 minutes.” She talks into her radio and I stand against the wall to shelter myself some more.
Drunken idíots spoilt been able to wait inside and now I brave the harsh winter wind so I can get home to my nice warm bed and sleep for a few hours.
The taxi pulls up and relief fills me, I can finally start to warm up.
“Amelia, can I jump in there? Thanks, you’re the best” Zoe, a girl that I went to college with and lives down my street shouts. She has herself draped over some guy. She opens the door and slides in pulling the guy with her. He seems to hesitate. Poor thing he doesn’t stand a chance with Zoe. She will eat him alive.
“What the fück Zoe!” I shout as she slams the door leaving me stood outside.
I pull the front passenger door open and tell the driver my address.
“What are you doing Amelia! Can’t you see I wanted to be alone.” She says from behind me. I hear the guy shifting around uncomfortably in his seat.
“You live down the road from me so if you’re gonna steal my cab you can at least drop me off!” I spit back.
Zoe is what we call a loose woman, she doesn’t have a moral compass, if it moves and breathes and has a penís she will sleep with it.
The guy beside her is quite good looking, she’s done well for herself tonight. He was tall with dark blonde hair, his body seems to just fit into the clothes he has on and from what I can tell from the glimpse I saw he was extremely handsome.
I can hear him clear his throat from the back seat but I pay no attention and concentrate on the road in front of me. The taxi pulls up outside my house and I climb out and slam the door shut. I walk up the driveway and open the front door. Finally I’m home. I slowly make my way up the stairs, as quiet as I can so I don’t wake anyone up. Once inside my room I pull my clothes off and fall into bed.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
I hit the snooze button on my alarm clock. 6.30 time to get up. I drag myself out of bed and walk over to my dressing gown. I wish I had put on some pyjamas last night. It’s freezing this morning. I look out of my bedroom window and see the guy from last night doing the walk of shame from Zoe’s house. Seeing him in better light he really was sexy. I make my way downstairs and find my Nana in the kitchen making breakfast.
“Morning Nana.” I kiss her cheek and sit down at the table in the kitchen pouring myself a large cup of coffee.
“Morning sweetheart. Could you be a dear and fetch the paper my hip is playing up in this cold weather.”
“Huh huh” I nod and walk out. Bloody paperboy, he throws it at the front of the garden every morning so I have to walk to the very front of the house to get it for nana.
“Good morning.” I jump startled from the stranger talking to me.
“Good morning.” I turn around to smile and my face drops when I realise it’s the guy that was with Zoe last night. The one who tried to steal my ride home.
“I’m Hayden.” He holds his hand out for me to shake. I scoff at him and walk away.
