Mason pov The road to the compound is long and winding. Trees litter the side of the roads, creating a canopy above the car. I park the car 10 miles away, making Gabe and Harper walk the rest of the way. If they get one whiff of us, they will bolt and clear out. I pull my bag out of the trunk and pass the other bags to my two companions. Harper is a really sweet girl. She is determined and has a positive outlook on life and it’s refreshing to be around her. Gabe is the complete opposite. He’s quiet and reserved, not much of a talker, but Harper makes up for that. I don’t mind the quiet, though. I’m used to it. “Your bag is beeping,” Harper says to me, pointing at my backpack. I drop it to the floor and reach inside my bag. I’m surprised to see it’s an alert to say Edwin is close by. He
