Author's pov,
After 12 years...
Everything changed after that incident. If someone was affected by that incident most, that's Rishi because he lost someone who was most precious to him. It affected him so much, he became silent. That Rishi who is full of life also lost that person.
He doesn't want to live, but he is still living. Last night he dreamed about her and he again did not sleep and he woke up early in the morning and did his workout in the gym. Then, after doing his morning routines, he took a shower as usual and then got ready for the office. He didn't have time to have breakfast, so he skipped breakfast or you can also say that after his dream his appetite died, then left for the office and went straight to his cabin at the office.
With time, he became more handsome. His long hair, but not so long, when that hair fell on his forehead but not in and eyes. It was like he was controlling his hair not to fall. his hair started to get gray you can see that but that hair also making him handsome. His black eyes trimmed his beard but his eyes lost spark. Now he forgot how to smile. He became more workaholic. He distanced himself from all family members, friends, relatives etc, but he would be available for them whenever they needed him. You can say that he became an introvert.
Every morning, he looks at the city view from his office window. Then he would start his work. Now that has become his habit. After that, he started his work and picked up the file from his table and started to analyze it and called his secretary.
"Rita fixed the meeting with Mr. Gupta."
"Yes sir." She said.
"If possible, make sure you fix it today."
"Okay sir, anything else sir." She asked
"No..."
"Okay sir." She hung up the phone.
He was doing his work, when his friend and brother, Abhishek aka Abhi appeared in front of him. He is his childhood friend. They completed their school and college together. Abhi is like a brother to him. He is a very joyful man and never takes any kind things seriously, but a little bit impatient. React very quickly, not bothering about what will be the consequences.
"Rishi...! Mr. Singhania is continuously calling me about his new project. How will I answer him? Because you are not attending his call." Abhi asked him, but Rishi was engrossed in the file.
"Hmm." He responded and Abhi was surprised by his response because he never ignored clients. Then what happened now?
"Are you even listening to what I am saying?" He asked.
"Yes, I am listening" He responded.
"I am asking you, what to answer him? And you are saying nothing but engrossed in that file." He said, irritated and Rishi sighed.
"I am tired of answering on behalf of you for more then one month. You have to respond to his phone calls, Bro, because he only wants to talk to you. " He added.
After finishing the file reading, he closed the file and looked at him and sat down.
"Abhi, have some patience. I am just looking into Mr. Gupta file. He is a very genuine person. How can I say that....hmm....hmm.....Like a father figure because he is my father's best friend and his proposal very interesting. So you are going to deal with him on behalf of me." He said.
"Bro, what I am asking you and what you are saying to me? I can't understand what's going on in your mind?" He questioned him but he sighed. He just took out his specs and put them on the table.
"And, I am not going to deal with them on behalf of you because I am already busy with the Dubai party."
"Already, I have contacted him and what is he asking us to do? That's not possible. Until he agrees with our condition," he said, looking out the side window.
"But..."
"I am not finished yet, Abhi." He warned him not to talk in the middle of the matter.
"This 'Hospital Project' which Mr. Singhania won by cheating because of his greedy nature. He just wanted us to, use our firm name, nothing else. So don't attend his phone call." He said with a strained voice.
" Bro, I thought he was a gentle man but...." He was interrupted by Rishi.
"No... He is a money-minded person who just wants to earn money. That project is nothing but baloney, he said.
"Okay Bro, I got it. Now I will handle him. Don't worry." He said.
"Bro, one more thing, Mom invited you for dinner today. Please...be on time last time you just ditched us." He said with scare. Don't know how he will react? And he raised his eyebrows.
"Bro...don't stare at me like that. She worried about you lots. After that incident, you distanced yourself from all of us." He stated what happened in those 12 years.
"If you are going to start that topic again, don't." He warned him.
"But how many years are you going to live your life like that?
"Like what?" He questioned.
"like destroyed." There is silence between two best friends.
"I am not living my life destroyed and stop talking like mom." He greeted his teeth.
"Bro, She wants you to see happiness in your life and not only she, we are also. Now you are going to turn 34 years old. When are you going to marry?" He was just bombarded with questions.
"You know what my answer will be, then why every time you argue with me on behalf of mom? Just go and tell her don't worry about me. I am happy in my life, now you can go." He dismissed him and Abhi looked at his best friend in awe. He was going to say something but he knew that nothing was going to happen by arguing with him. So he got up and went outside.

After sometime, someone knocked on the door.
"Come in..." Rishi said.
Mr. Samar Dixit entered the office. He is Rishi's senior. He is a very handsome man with a kind heart. His hair cutting is like army cutting and he also maintained his body like he was an army man. Famous architect, determined person. You can say that he is Mr. Perfect.
"Rishi, for Mr. Gupta's projects. Are we in or out?" Samar said.
"We are in Samar and now, I am handing Mr. Gupta's project in your hand." He said, handing the project file to Samar and he took it.
"Whoa... you just did the file review in one day."
"His proposal. I like it and this project has challenges, so you are also gonna like it. And one more thing. hire a junior architect for me." He said.
"Do you really need a junior architect? So Ms. Pandey was telling me was correct; You are going to hire a junior architect?" He questioned him in a serious way and he nodded.
"I thought she must have heard something wrong from you but it is true. You are serious. You never needed a junior architect for yourself?" He looked at him for answer.
"Yes, I never needed it, but now the work load is tighter and more over. Now I am going to take over my father's company. Also, he needs me and this time I am going to help him. That's why I am hiring a junior architect. He said, but concern was visible in his eyes, like he was doing something which he didn't want. Understanding his situation, Samar was determined to help him to find a junior architect.
"Okay, we will hire a junior architect. Don't make that face." He assured him.
"Rishi, I need a favor from you." he added.
"And what is it? He asked.
"I want atleast two days to leave or otherwise my wife will kill me and I can't take that pain," Teasingly said, and he raised his eyebrows.
"Oh... tomorrow is my marriage anniversary and this time, as you know, this is special for us. He said and Rishi nodded his head to understand what he was saying.
"I knew Samar, it's your 10th anniversary," He said.
"You are awesome Rishi, that's why I like you more than my wife, but if you don't give me leave for tomorrow, she will definitely appear in this office and the rest of it is history."
"Don't tell this in front of your wife, otherwise she will kill you first, then me. By the way, she is my best friend, so I am not in danger," He said, making him frown.
"Dude just help me with this thing. Last time I forgot about my anniversary and you know what happened to me." He said, pouting.
"Grow up man, you're perfect with everything and don't bother me about your lovey-dovy talk or romance." He warned him.
"At least give me some ideas. So I can make our special day more memorable." He pleaded.
"Whoa...whao... Look at the irony: Who is asking for an idea? The great, famous architect, Mr. Samar Dixit." He mocked him with sarcasm.
"Dude, don't do that with me. I can do anything when it is about a professional, but romance sucks, man. He said sadly.
"I can't understand one thing about. If you are not a romantic person, how did you propose and get married to her?" He said doubtfully. "Before marriage she always talked about getting married to only a romantic person but she married you. Maybe you tricked her? He said, making him jealous for his wife.
"What...? He shouted. "You are lying." He added.
"Why would I lie to you? And what will I get from lying to you?" He questioned him, making him think about his statement.
"Really dude...? But she never told me about that." He said disappointingly. "No matter what statement she made. But she loves me more then anything," He said proudly.
"Oh...Your proud not gonna work for tomorrow, So move your lazy a** and do work. If my bestie is not happy on her wedding anniversary, I'm going to tell her what you did last anniversary." He said playfully, but Samar looked at him shocked.
"You can't do that to me. She will definitely kill me and she will never forgive me. So please...don't dare to do that with me." He pleaded, warning him.
"Are you pleading with me or warning me?" He questioned him, looking at his horrified face.
"Dude, I am requesting you." He folded his hand in front of him.
"Okay...Okay...don't start your drama again. I am not going to buy it." Suddenly Rishi became serious.
"Listen Samar, she is your wife and it's your responsibility to make her happy and if I give you the idea for your special day, that will be my idea, isn't it? So where is your idea, hard work, effects? If you do even a small thing for her, she will be happy and she will also see your hard work." Samar understood him well.
"Thanks dude, thanks. Now I understand." He thanked him for his advice and hugged him. After that, he excused himself.
