IN LOVE WITH Her
I sat across from Callum. My gaze fixated on him. I watched as he averted his gaze from mine. A part of me wanted to believe that he was actually innocent, but I knew that was me just convincing myself that there was still some good in him.
The doorknob twisted, and the police came in, scrutinizing the piece of paper he had with him
“Miss Sonya, why do you think Mr Peters is responsible for your kidnapping” he questioned.
“It's a simple officer,” I said,
“He is a freak!” I added, glaring at Callum whose gaze was fixed on the table separating us. He said nothing since he got in. Giving the aura of a saint. But I knew it was a disguise, I was not falling for any of it.
“I just wanted to make things right with my ex-wife” he finally broke his awkward silence.
“ Yes, I did lots of bad things to you in the past,” he continued, his gaze now fixed on me.
“ But this kidnap is not on me. All I wanted was to make things right” his face was void of any emotions as he spoke.
“ Officer, he was the only one who knew where I was,” I said as I moved my face slowly from his to the policeman, not fazed by Callums plea.
“He came just in time to be the hero”. I asserted in my bid to make sure he realized that I am not buying any of his lies.
There was no way I was just going to believe that Callum Peters suddenly had a change of heart.
“Soya I was there that day because I was following you” Callum started in a whisper.
“ how do I explain that I can't get you out of my head, and that's precisely why I have been trying to have a proper conversation with you; how do I explain that I feel really bad for how I treated you?” he continued, his voice becoming more audible now.
I looked at him in confusion.
“ You don't have to say that to vindicate yourself,” I said softly.
“ I am not,” he yelled, his eye balls threatening to fall out from the fury.
“I am trying here Sonya, believe me” he added, his eyes pleasingly scanning my face.
“Fine! You are sorry all well and good”
“But people who really want to apologize don't sit around for a whole year waiting for their victim” I said, dashing out of the station.
Hot tears fell down my cheek as I walked out, how could he tender such a lame apology, after everything I went through.
For years, I was tagged as barren; and when I finally had the chance to prove to the world that I wasn't, I miscarried; he made sure of it.
“I don't have forgiveness to offer, I don't!!” I said to myself, turning on the ignition and zooming off the premises.
The Peters mansion………..
“ Oh Callum” Amada dashed towards me as soon as I walked through the door.
“Stephen told me what happened” she said, taking my hands In hers.
“Sonya has always been bad news” she berated.
“ we should take legal actions against her” she added
“No!” I immediately blurted. Amanda froze, utterly shocked by my reaction.
“Callum she had you arrested for practically no reason; I see no reason why she should not face the consequences” Amanda glared at me
“I rescued her” I said,
“ you did what?” Amanda challenged
“ oh so first you defend her, then you rescue her;” she nagged.
I rolled my eyes, I just couldn't deal with her insecurities right now.
“What is your deal with that low life!” she continued,
“What is it about her, she is always going to be your ex wife Callum nothing more; so the earlier you snap out of this lust the better”
“Amandaaaa!” i yelled, my tone in a warning
“ Let's leave Sonya; it was an honest mistake besides I cleared my name” I said, shoving the conversation under the carpet.
“No! She should face the consequences” Amanda persisted.
“Can you plz stop!” I lashed out.
“Stop acting like we are saints Amanda; I am tired of it; why the hate? why do you berate her so much, she lost her child because of us; so I guess this makes us even”
I was sick of Amanda always berating Sonya. I couldn't help but lash out at her.
“Callum Peters,” she called, wrapping her arms around my cheek tenderly in her usual manner.
“I may let this slide, but know this, I owe that b***h no form of sympathy,” she said, letting out a smile that faded immediately.
I was puzzled. Amanda has changed so much, she had hatred bursting out of her; I didn't want my wife to be filled with so much hate toward anyone.
“Am- Amanda” I called softly, placing my hands on hers where they were on my face.
“Shhhh” she placed her finger on my lip.
“You can feel sorry for her, Callum, but I don't; sort your feelings for her out as soon as possible, we have a marriage to keep!” she patted my cheek softly, leaving for the room.
Amanda’s words had my heart racing, I have feelings for my ex wife and my wife knows about it.
I had to figure out how to move past this and fast.
