Bella adjusted the strap of her worn handbag as she entered the luxurious office. The marble floor sparkled under the chandelier light, and the scent of wealth hung in the air. She felt completely out of place. Behind the massive desk sat Adrian King, the cold billionaire every magazine called ruthless. His sharp eyes studied her as if she were just another business deal. “Sit,” he ordered, his deep voice echoing across the room. Bella sat, clutching her bag nervously. “Why did you call me here?” Adrian leaned forward, his expression unreadable. “I don’t believe in love, Miss Bella. But I need a wife. Someone to stand by my side for appearance." Her eyes widened. “You… want me to marry you?” “Not want. Need.” His voice was firm, almost icy. “You will have everything you’ve ever dreamed of—money, protection, status. In return, you’ll follow my rules. No questions, no argument.” Bella’s heart raced. This was madness. Why her? Why now? She stood to leave, but his words stopped her cold. “If you walk away, your family loses everything tomorrow.” Her legs trembled. Was she really about to sell her freedom to a man she barely knew? When her eyes met his again, she realized there was no choice. “I’ll do it,” she whispered.
