Alayna Amir I made a mess in my room while trying to figure out what I was going to wear to the party. This is going to be my first party. Well, it's going to be a comfortable party because here I have Muslim classmates. So I know I won't be uncomfortable, and everyone will make me feel at ease. Ring Ring My phone rang. I picked up my phone, and Ayesha was calling me. Ayesha is one of my best friends. She is the type of friend that you will feel blessed to have in your life. "As-salamuwalaikum," Ayesha said. I love how polite she is. "Wa alaikum as-salam. What are you doing?" "I'm trying to find an outfit for today. But I can't seem to decide. Can you help me?" She said. "I just sent you pictures of three dresses. Select one for me." I checked my chat and saw three dress pictures that she sent me. "These dresses are so pretty, girl. I love all of them. But I think this black one will look amazing on you. I know your obsession with black clothes. And just wear your black hijab. You will look so prettyyy." She laughed at how enthusiastic I sounded. "You know, I was also thinking of selecting black, but I still want your opinion. Well, we both have the same choice." She said. "I know, right!" "By the way, did you select your outfit?" She asked. "Nope, I'm trying to find something that I will like to wear. I can't find anything." I said, rummaging through my closet. "Why don't you wear the blue dress?" I love that dress." "I would have, but it got a tear when I wore it last time." I said I was making a sad face. I loved that dress. It was so beautiful. "AHHHHH, I FOUND THE PERFECT DRESS TO WEAR." I scream. "Allahhh, I thought my eardrums would burst now." Ayesha said. "Sorryy. See, no, I found a perfect outfit." "Show show." I clicked a picture and sent it to her. "It's so beautiful. Don't think, just wear it, you are going to look so beautiful in this dress." "Yes, I will wear this dress." My phone bipped. I looked and saw my dad calling me. "Hey ayesha I will call you later. Dad is calling me." "Ok, no problem. Allah hafiz." "Allah hafiz." I cut off her call and answered Dad's call. "As-salamuwalaikum dad. Please, dad, don't tell me you are going to tease me now on the phone." I said it and whined. "Wa alaikum as-salam, No, no, I didn't call you to tease you. I have left a very important file in our bedroom. Can you bring it for me, dear?" Dad asked. "Of course, dad, I will. Where is that file?" I asked as I started to go towards my parents room. "You will find that file in the bedside drawer. The color of the file is red." I searched and found the red file. "I found it, dad. Don't worry, I'm coming to your office." I reassured him. "Thank you, Alayna." Just book a cab. If you face any problems, just call me, okay? Allah hafiz." "Ok dad Allah hafiz." I wore baggy clothes and my hijab. Yep, I'm a proud hijabi. As soon as I'm done, the cab arrives. I reached Dad's office. "As-salamuwalaikum aunty. How are you?" I gave my father's office receptionist, Manisha Salam, She is a elderly women but very experienced and a amazing women. "Wa-alaikumas-salam alayna. Allhamdulliah, I'm alright. How are you, dear?" "Allhamdulliah, I'm great, as you can see." I smile, and she returns the smile. "Why are you here?" "I came to give a file to dad. Is he free?" "He is in the meeting room. Wait, I should let him know." She gave me a smile and picked up her telephone. "Sir Alayna has arrived with the file you wanted... Ok, sir, I'll send her right away." She hung up. "Alayna, go quickly, your dad is waiting for you." She said that, and I started to run towards Dad's meeting room. "I'll see you later, auntyyy.." I took the elevator, but it was full, so it took me a few more minutes. I know I have to hurry, but I don't have the energy to take the stairs. Finally, I've reached the 5th floor. I ran toward the meeting room. I've come here so many times that I know every room in this office, so I quickly found the meeting room. "Daaaddd I bought your file. Now you have to give me pizzaa as a fee...." I felt like my breath got stuck in my throat. As I felt it, my heart started to beat so fast. I have blinked my eyes so many times already to see if what I am seeing is real or not. I waved my hand in front of my eyes, trying to remove the person I'm seeing here. Maybe I'm thinking too much. Uff, Alayna, you have become crazy now too. When I looked in the same direction again, he was still here. Zayaan Khan—the person I was praying to meet even once He was right in front of me. I can't move my muscles. I feel like my body is stuck in one place. He was staring at me so intensely, like he was thinking something. Yeah, he must be thinking what a dumb girl she is, who didn't see the seated people before and is now staring at me like a creep. I came out of my thoughts when I heard him clearing his throat. "Dear, give me the file." "Huh.." I said, forgetting about why I came here. "Alayna, I said, give me the file you bought here." Dad said, Shake me lightly. "Ah.. herre.. file.." I'm seriously going to die of embarrassment. I gave the file to Dad. Dad, give me a wink. Oh my gosh, now I understand that he could have easily asked mom to bring this file to him. But he told me to bring this. Can I find a better father than this? The answer is no. I again looked at him. He was still looking at me. I can't. I can't. I'm feeling too nervous. So I did the stupidest thing I could do. I ran. I ran outside the meeting room. I was calming my breath. The scene with him in front of me Looking directly into my eyes. I can't believe I feel like I'm going to cry. I sat on a chair right outside the meeting room. Allhamdulliah. Thank you so much, Allah. Thank you, thank you, thank you sooo much. You heard my prayers. Even if he's not in my destiny, I'm not going to be sad about it, at least you let me see him. I can live with that forever. The tears are starting to gather around my eyes. I let a few tears flow. But wiped them quickly and started to smile stupidly. I started to jump in the air. I get to meet him. Ahhhhhhh. I saw Aunty coming here. "Auntyyyy." I grabbed her by the hand and started to spin both of us. "I'm sooo happy, aunty." Soon, she started to laugh. "Ok, ok, enough. First, tell me, what happened?" Oops, I can't tell her. I'm too shy to say this. "Aree, I'm just... I heard the throat-clearing sound again.
