Evolution: The beginning of a new era

Mafias and gangs emanated in Russia after the deadly war, there was chaos as gangs fought to obtain power. Millions of people lost their lives. After another gruesome blood bath, one gang seized control and there was stability. At the top of the pyramid was Evolution group, and the leader was Borstov. Borstov was known to be ruthless, he killed his brother who was a leader of a rivalry gang. Under his gang name he built a firm to financially sustain his family, his firm grew to be one of the biggest companies in the world. On the surface Evolution group mainly operated in entertainment and technology, but behind the curtains Borstov was involved in drugs and human trafficking. Borstov married Isabella, she was a beautiful Russia woman with crystal blue eyes and blonde eyes. Borstov agreed to marry Isabella due to political reason, her father was a runner up for President. However, tragedy struck when Isabella's father died in a car crash days before the elections. Isabella conceived a daughter a year after she was married, her name was Emerlda. Isabella had complications during her pregnancy leading her to give birth early. Emerlda born as a premature had poor health conditions and her body was fragile. Isabella for two years tried to conceive but all effort was in vain, she wanted to bear a son for Borston. Women were considered weak and inferior to men in Russia, no gang nor mafia was led by a woman. As beautiful as she was her inability to bear a male child drove Borstov to marry a mistress younger and more beautiful than her. Maria was mocked by mafia wives, every function she attended people mocked her status as the Mistress. In other people's eyes they saw her as a home wrecker, being a mistress in Russia was mockery. Her misery was despaired when she gave birth to a handsome boy Gustov. Borstov devoted his time to his heir neglecting his first wife and daughter. Gustov was a priceless treasure Borstov loved wholeheartedly. Isabella was devasted, little by little she became obsessed with a delusional perfect family she had in mind. Isabella forced her daughter to do her bidding to please her father, she studied nonstop. Emerlda was hit with a whip for every error she made at first, she could cry her eyes out but gradually her body got used to the pain. For eight years the anger and devastation of being abandoned by Borstov drove Isabella to completely loose her mind. Isabella during a meal attacked Maria, the maids held her back. Isabella looked at Borstov and said, "How can you mock me by marrying her? Borstov even in my death I shall continue to torment you! I will kill the both of you!" Borstov slapped her and replied, "You disgust me Isabella, take her to the dark room. Reflect on what you have done." With tears dripping down her eyes Isabella asked, "Is this really how I am to you now?" Witnessing the whole fiasco Emerlda was perfectly calm eating her dinner. Isabella was locked in a dark, where she couldn't see day or night just darkness. Holding a tray of food Isabella in her hands Isabella walked in the dark room. The door was closed behind her, she said, "Mom I have brought food for you" Filled with range Isabella threw a glass at her daughter, she didn't flinch nor drop a tear. Isabella mocked her, "You are weak, you are nothing! Because of you he abandoned me!" Emerlda picked up the broken pieces, she smiled at her mother, "I shall bring more water for you." The door was locked behind her, a maid helped her to apply ointment and bandaging her wound. Emerlda looked at the kind maid, "I made mama angry again, can you bring her water." The kind maid took the glass of water and replied, "Let me take this to her." Borstov heard what had happened, she summoned Emerlda in his study room. When she arrived, she saw Maria comfortably seated on a leather sofa holding her son on her lap. Borstov slapped her so hard that she fell on the ground, "I warned you to never set foot in that room. I am tired of you and your insane mother; I am sending you to a boarding school that Maria found for you." Maria with a grin on her face replied, "I selected the best school for you Emerlda, this school properly educate naughty girls like you." Borstov looked at Emerlda, he said, "Go and pack your bags." Maria properly amended her dress before she stood up, "All the arrangements have been taken care of, you shall leave tonight. I am sure you shall be an outstanding woman when you return…" Whispering in her ear Maria continued, "That is if you return." Emerlda popped her eyes out and she shouted, "Father, you can't send me away from mother!" Borstov with an angry scary face replied, "How dare you call me your father? Throw her in the dark room." Emerlda was thrown in the room where her mother was, it was awfully quiet. Emerlda said, "Mother, please don't let them send me away." Emerlda saw feet dangling from the roof, with a shocked face she slowly looked up and saw her mother had committed suicide by hanging herself. Emerlda felt a sharp pain on her chest area, she collapsed on the ground. When Emerlda woke up she saw Maria holding a small backpack standing beside her bed, handing her a backpack she said "What a tragic ending for a worthless daughter and an unloved insane wife, if life gets tough over there make it easier for you. Don't think about coming back, there is nothing for you here. " Emerlda never uttered a word, she knew a dark world awaited for her outside the wall. She entered the car, tears unwillingly poured out of her eyes. Maria sent Emerlda before her mother was even buried. Looking at the cold corpse of Isabella dangling from the roof Maria said, "Take her away, inform my husband of the unfortunate event." Borstov returned from his meeting, he was in a foul mood. His right-hand man Luka accompanied him home, he had brought a new doll for Emerlda from his trip. Luka greeted Maria; he handed a maid his coat. Luka looking around asked, "Where is Emerlda? I promised to bring a doll for her. It might cheer her up." Maria offering him a glass of whiskey replied, "We sent her to a boarding school, a funeral is burdensome or a child to handle." Luka with a startled face asked, "Borstov, how can you send an eight-year-old to a boarding school?" Maria felt agitated anticipating that Luka would ruin her plan of finally getting rid of Emerlda. Borstov sighed, "She is of no value to me, Gustov will take over me." Luka knew Maria was desperate to get rid of Isabella and her daughter, "Send me the location of the school I would like to drop the doll." Maria fidgeting her fingers replied, "I will take the doll along with some clothes she left behind, dinner is ready let us eat." Luka lifted Gustov up in his arms, he said, "What is your mother feeding you? You are growing up so fast little Borstov." After dinner Borstov took Luka to his study room, he was frustrated. Borstov offered Luka a cigar and malt whiskey, puffing out the toxic air Luka said, "These American officials seized one billion worth of goods, in an attempt to recover the goods, we lost half our men in America and the bounty. Which imbecile did you appoint to transport the goods? Perhaps you are getting old to be in charge Borstov." Borstov handed Luka the ledgers he took from his drawers, "These are the names of the people who double crossed me, you know what to do. I heard there was a heist in one of our plants in America, how do you propose we handle that?" Borstov sighed, sipping the strong whiskey in his hand he replied, "I need someone I can trust to be my ears and eyes in America, when you have finished your work here go to America. Let me handle the pets here." Luka quickly browsed through the names, all these heist and murders are an inside job, we need to get rid of these rats, the sooner the better." Maria was eavesdropping to their conversation. Borstov handed Luka a file with passports and new identity he needed, "Try to keep this persona clean. The C.I.A has been targeting my business for long now, lay low for now focus on the surface business." Luka placed the ledger in the suitcase, "Can I have permission to speak candidly boss?" Borstov granted him permission, Luka looking at Isabella portrait asked, "It was an unfortunate case that Madam Isabella has passed on and Mistress Maria had to step but was it wise to oust your daughter?" Luka left the office when his meeting with Borstov was done, Maria brought coffee for him. Borstov looked at his portrait with Isabella, he said, "Take all garbage out of my office." The car took Emerlda to a deserted place, it was dark and cold. The car driver took her bag and ditched her, she tried to run after the car, but she tripped on her dress and fell. Emerlda had never been scared in her life, she sat on her bag burring her crying face in between her legs, "Mother, I am scared…" A car stopped in front of her, she wiped away her tears and said, "Good evening…please help me…" a tall scar faced woman stepped out of the car, she looked at Emerlda and said, "Another worthless trash tossed in my turf, bag her up." Emerlda was put on a black and thrown on the back of a truck.
