Chapter 3

673 Words
The instant Ryan walked out with Laura and the door slammed shut behind them, a strange voice suddenly rang out inside my mind. "Don't cry over a man who isn't worth your pain." My entire body went rigid. I stood frozen in place, too stunned to even breathe. "It's me. Your wolf, Lilith." It was my wolf! Tears welled up in my eyes as excitement overwhelmed me. "I can finally sense you!" My wolf gave an arrogant huff, her voice filled with a trace of mockery. "I've always been here. Your body was simply too weak. A forced awakening would have damaged you, so I remained asleep until now. "Laura carries witch blood. Her potion wasn't just filled with poisonous herbs, it also contained evil magic, which would be extremely harmful to ordinary wolf souls. "But you don't need to worry. I'm a white wolf. Those things can't do anything to me. I'll wait until your Mate Bonding Ceremony to awaken completely. I need to rest now." Lilith appeared without warning and vanished just as quickly. Yet her arrival awakened a strength buried deep inside me. I had a wolf. I wasn't a cripple. I closed my eyes and focused, feeling the small white wolf peacefully sleeping within my consciousness. The moment Ryan and Laura learned that I could communicate with my wolf, they were shocked. Ryan was thrilled. He ordered the Beta to prepare an elegant dress for me and brought me to the banquet he had arranged for Laura. Yes, he had prepared a celebration banquet for Laura, honoring her for her "extraordinary contribution" to the pack. I was nothing more than a trophy, a living proof of Laura's success. He even deliberately placed Laura above me, in the seat that should have belonged to the Luna. A werewolf who always sided with Laura walked past me with a wine glass in his hand and intentionally slammed into me. My body was still weak from the potion, and the impact sent me tumbling to the ground. Instead of apologizing, he widened his eyes dramatically and shouted, "How can the future Luna be this weak? I think it's time to give the Luna position to someone else." The werewolves around us immediately broke into mocking laughter. Ryan hurried over with panic written across his face, shoved his way through the crowd, and pulled me to my feet, anxiously checking every inch of me for injuries. Seeing the genuine worry in his eyes, I chose to give him, and our bond, one last chance. I met his gaze and spoke earnestly. "Ryan, Elder Nyxara, the most respected priest in the pack, will return in two days. He knows the truth about everything. He'll tell you that the medicine Laura has been giving me all this time was never meant to heal me. It was meant to hurt me." As soon as my words fell, Laura's eyes immediately filled with tears. She put on an expression of heartbreak, as if she was the one who had been betrayed. "Sia, how could you see me this way? I spent ten years traveling between other packs searching for medical knowledge. I was only able to save you because of what I learned. Without me, you would still be a cripple, a Luna everyone would mock!" The instant Ryan heard the word "cripple," his expression darkened completely. In front of everyone, he violently pulled his hand away from mine. The force sent me stumbling backward several steps before I managed to steady myself. His voice was icy and sharp, "Enough! Sia, I never thought you'd become someone so ungrateful. Your lack of a wolf soul isn't what disappoints me the most. Your jealousy and narrow-mindedness are the real 'cripple' that I can't tolerate!" I stared at his cold, unforgiving face and listened to his cruel words. A bitter laugh rose in my heart. 'Ryan, you're nothing but a fool who can't even recognize the truth from a lie. You don't deserve even a moment of my feelings.'
