AUTHOR’S NOTE
WRITING AND RESEARCHING this book was definitely an eye-opening experience for me! Coming up with different addictions for each of the victims was also interesting as they almost selected themselves without much thought. I even came back six months after finishing the first draft, to add in another victim because that particular addiction felt so topical to me. Can you guess who it was? Drop me a line if you’re curious and I’ll fill you in.
Whilst the overall topic was quite heavy, I was conscious of providing some relief with dark humour, along with elements of emotion and redemption. As a writer, I’m certainly interested in flawed heroes, and I worked hard to bring some of those character traits into Simon Winter.
