Chapter 45 AFTER A FITFUL NIGHT’S sleep teeming with vivid hallucinatory images, Leonard woke up exhausted. He dragged himself out of bed and endured a torturous commute and day at the office that was almost an out-of-body experience. It seemed like he just wasn’t Leonard anymore. He didn’t know how to feel, who he should be. He imagined he could sense the defect in his cranium, that black void deep inside his brain that he desperately wanted to fill by connecting with something or someone.
