When I make it back to our suite, Dean is already tucked into bed. He smiles softly when he sees me, seeming to understand, at least to some degree, what I’ve just been through. “You okay?” he asks me gently. I really love him for that—for not being mad at me for being alone with Finn, despite how possessive he can be—for understanding that I had to do it, and that it hurt. “I will be.” I slip out of my dress, fully at ease being naked around him at this point, and drop it into the hamper. “He’s staying behind.” Dean nods. He heard that, too. “I don’t blame him. I would, too, in his position.” Another pang hits my heart at that, for more than one reason.
