What If

Third Person's P.O.V Everyone had calmed down over the fact that Austin was a creation of Erebus. Everyone went home, except for Austin. He followed Rafaela home.  "Why aren't you going home?" Rafaela giggles, asking Austin.  "I want to tell you everything," the question perked Rafaela's ears and made her turn around but kept walking. It was Austin's responsibility to watch where Rafaela was walking.  The familiar rode deemed comfortable as they walk. The night sky added a hint of romance in the air as they talk. The stars were twinkling above them so beautifully that Austin couldn't decide who was more beautiful, Rafaela or the stars. The lack of people walking with them made Austin thought that they own the world. The gaze of Rafaela made Austin flustered. Her green eyes held deep meaning of passion and affection.  "Okay," Rafaela breathes out and gives Austin a sincere smile.  "Are you not upset that I didn't tell you anything?" Rafaela shakes her head, her smile never faltering.  "Since I've met you, I've realized that not everything can be as easy as human complications." it was the truth that Rafaela was speaking. It had came from her heart that understanding is a first.  Austin felt emotional. He couldn't ask for more. Rafaela had learned in some way and that was enough to make Austin hug Rafaela, stopping the both of them from walking. Rafaela was caught by surprise but she inevitably hugged Austin back, genuinely. Rafaela breathes in Austin's scent, congratulating herself that she indeed grew to be more mature. "Was I that immature before?"  "No, uh," Austin responded quickly, denying the truth.  "Just, you know, you didn't know much," the excuse made Rafaela giggle. She knows she was right. She just had to ask, teasing her boyfriend.  "Right, so what did you want to talk to me about?" Austin hesitantly broke their hug and held her hand instead.  Physical touch was important to Austin. He doesn't know why but he likes to be close to Rafaela always, touching her anywhere. He can't stay put if Rafaela is in view and they're not beside each other. He feels as if it was his right place and he owns Rafaela's side. It was freaking him out sometimes, how needy he was, but he managed to keep it down, particularly when they're with other people.  "Remember the day that you asked me if I can create darkness?"  "Yes, very. You were surprised then too." it was bugging Rafaela too, how Austin was shocked when he created a tiny orb of darkness.  "Ah, you see, darkness can't be used by most deities, but there are some exceptions,"  "Like Pharsa?"  "Yes, like Pharsa, but even to her, there are so little of understanding when it comes to hybrids."  "What about Hades?"  "Uh, I wouldn't say that Hades can control darkness, he just rules over the realm of underworld. And he can control the riches of the earth."  Austin swings their intertwined hands like a child, entertained by how two entities can be called one with just so little physical touch. But it gave Austin a sense of unity. No matter how absurd it seemed to him, he was still feeling it. He was being hypocritical.  "Then how did Pharsa acquire darkness?"  "That is also one of the questions that I didn't have the courage to ask."  "Why?" "Olympus is quite similar to human personalities. Pharsa was deemed an outcast because she's a hybrid."  "Okay, I get it. I didn't think deities can be cruel."  Austin shakes his head.  "There are a lot really,"  "I wouldn't want to meet them. Humans are scary as they are, but deities? I think that's on to some other level. Imagine being harassed and you can't do anything about it because they can easily - ugh, no," Rafaela shivers at the thought of human-like deities, added with abilities.  It was the most successful murder Rafaela could think of. She didn't want to meet Ares again, because he screamed danger to her. With his boastful ego and his dark intentions, she was surprised he was still called and titled 'deity'.  "Don't worry. I won't let them do anything to you or your father." Austin kisses Rafaela's side of her forehead, calming her down.  "Thanks. Anyway, what about that day?"  "Ah, yes. That day, I began to question who I was, and what I am. I had been so confused and I hated myself at some point."  "I'm sorry," Rafaela says, feeling bad.  "Why are you saying sorry?"  "Well, that happened when I wasn't there, right?"  "Yeah, the timing was so perfect. But I was actually glad that you weren't there."  Rafaela gave Austin's hand a light squeeze before looking up at him and gaze upon his beauty, with his new white hair that makes him more handsome. He looked like he came out from a comic, so beautiful in both night and day. His features looked so surreal, like a 3D CGI made character. He had no blemishes, he had perfect skin with no pores and no unnecessary facial hair.  His perfect nose with his perfect light lip. It was thin, it was just the right amount of thin and plump, but it was so pink like he had applied some lip tint on it. Austin's amazing looks made Rafaela stare.  "Why?"  "Because I was scared that I might hurt you as well."  "What do you mean?"  "There was this incident. I had fused both light and dark on a sword, and somehow it drew Layla closer to the sword, and I had the intent to watch her spill her blood. Something came over me but I didn't understand it." Austin inhales.  "Even if I didn't do it, she may still end up dead if she touched the sword."  "But she's just touching it?"  "Even though that sword had darkness infused in it, there was still holiness; the light. Vampires can't touch anything with divine blessing."  Rafaela snapped out of her trance and looked up ahead. If she were to look again at Austin, she would, no doubt, be in trance again. He was that handsome. Her position as his girlfriend was at stake if someone else steals Austin from her. She thought herself that she would do everything she can to make Austin fall head over heels for her.  "Okay," Rafaela breathes out, distracted. Keep it together. Rafaela scolded herself for not listening completely.  "Ares came back again after a few days and attacked us. That was after Athena visited."  "Mhmm," Rafaela nods, remembering that day that Athena made an entrance by falling down from the sky and making a hold on the ground as it shook on her arrival. "He had a few witches on him and he knew that I was a hybrid and egged me until I was fueled with anger and I had to use my abilities, and that I almost lost control but I don't remember anything after that."  "I'm just glad that you're safe." Rafaela gave Austin a reassuring smile, saying that she understands the situation, or that she's trying.  "That thing with Mine, actually, I didn't tell her that we came here in secret. Deities aren't allowed to stay in the human world without some kind of permission from the council. I had thought we were okay since father gave us an 'okay', but it turned out that he kept it a secret from me too."  Austin looks down, still feeling guilty.  "I couldn't say it to Mine because I know she'd just leave me and follow her mother again. It pains me to see that she doesn't have any freedom to do that she wants."  They arrived at Rafaela's humble abode. Rafaela walks to the entrance, removing Austin's hand but Austin didn't want to let go. Rafaela tried again but Austin kept looking at her like some lost puppy. Rafaela suddenly felt bad and kept their hands intertwined together as she fumbles on the keys, trying to find the right one.  "Uhm," Rafaele was having  hard time using just one hand.  Austin steps up, giving her a hand. Their hands were doing what a single person's hand would do. Their hands moved in sync, trying out a key after key until they finally found the right one. The entire time, Rafaela's heart was pounding so hard, like a new found crush.  It wasn't like that before for Rafaela. But right now, Austin was giving her butterflies and making her heart pound fast. She could feel herself breathless sometimes and shy and nervous. She couldn't keep her heart calm at all times. Austin's want for physical touch reached Rafaela and she can't stop thinking about it. Austin was so whipped for Rafaela that Rafaela can't help but feel conscious.  "Uh, Austin?"  "Yes, babe?" it was like Austin could hear Rafaela's thoughts.  The endearment made Rafaela blush. She's had people call her that before, but hearing it come from Austin sounded so different. It reeked of affection and sincerity. Rafaela's heart was in a race, pounding so loudly and so fast Rafaela was so nervous that she runs her fingers through her silky hair.  When Rafaela ran her fingers through her hair, it made Austin look closer. He saw how flustered Rafaela was being and how she was being shy all of a sudden. It ignited something in Austin. Rafaela's plump lips looked inviting to Austin and urging him in a way that only he could hear  "Rafaela," Austin calls out in such a sultry manner. Rafaela turns around, surprised to hear her name come out from Austin's mouth.  When Rafaela turned around, Austin ceased the moment and smashed their lips together. Rafaela's bag fell to the floor due to shock. Rafael Wilson woke up and thought it was robbery. He immediately opens the door and was ready to scram when he saw his daughter and Austin by the front door, acting all nervous.  "My, so late." Rafael says before going back to his room.  Austin facepalmed himself, murmuring how he doesn't have any self-control. Rafaela felt embarrassed, thinking what if her father saw that. Rafaela grabbed her bag and clears her throat. "Do you want to.. stay the night?" Rafaela asks shyly, scratching her nape.  They were portraying that of newly made couples.  "Uh, yeah, okay."  The two of them kept their distance from each other as they ascend the stairs to Rafaela's room. Rafaela got inside first and Austin followed behind, he shut the door behind him and locked it. Rafaela places her bag down and sat on the edge of the bed, suddenly not knowing what to do or what to talk about with Austin.  Both of their hearts were in sync, palpitating and bashful. They couldn't look at each other. Rafaela stayed on the edge of the bed while Austin stayed still leaning on the door.  "Uh, is something wrong?" Austin asks, suddenly feeling shy as well.  "No, nothing. You okay there?"  "Yes, ah, no, I mean, I don't know." Austin shakes his head, confused of his own words.  The situation made Rafaela giggle. She stands up opens her glass window. The cold night breeze welcomed Rafaela. The air made Rafaela's hair sway beautifully. The moon was out tonight, with it silver array of light. Rafaela's hair looked like it was touched by the moon itself.  Rafaela closes her eyes, admiring how the breeze was soothing her, and not hurting her skin. It felt comfortable on her skin. She inhales the fresh air and turns to the amazed Austin.  "Want to join me?" the two shared an affinity with the night life.  Austin joins Rafaela by the window and closes his eyes as well. His white hair looked like it was kissed with glitters. The air tickled Austin's white hair with ease, showing his forehead. Rafaela smiled at the sight of her man enjoying the night's breeze.  "Hey, Austin,"  "Hmm?" Austin hums in response, not once opening his eyes. The cold air entered his lungs like it was missing from the start. It gave him a sense of freedom, something that he hasn't felt in a long time because of all the things that was happening that brought him confusion.  "I don't want to lose you." the face of vulnerability brought Austin back to reality. The outburst of emotions was new to Austin since Rafaela was usually the cool one in their relationship. The three words that Austin waited, but never brought it up finally surfaces. Austin was, in fact, feeling joy but there was something in Rafaela's tone that weighs down his joy. Rafaela's voice sounded afraid, anxious, and hurt.  "Why does it sound so sad?"  Rafaela painstakingly averted her gaze to the ground. She was searching for the right words to say but none of them was satisfying her hunger for 'the right word'. They all seemed shallow to Rafaela, but there was nothing ever wrong in telling your partner what you think.  Rafaela decides to go for it, as she couldn't find any better phrasing. They all sounded the same to Rafaela. They all sounded pleading, untrusty, and emotional. No one has ever made Rafaela this way. This level of thinking way too far in the future, worrying every day, and thinking if she could be easily replaced.  Austin is the first and Rafaela thinks he will be the last. No one was quite the same as Austin. With his smile, his goofy laughter, his occasional touch and his needy thirst for Rafaela in a crowded room. They were all screaming Austin. Austin had wanted Rafaela so much that even Rafaela knows this.  "I don't know what I'm going to do if I lost you." Rafaela hugs herself, thinking 'this is it'.  Austin hugged the cold and fragile Rafaela. His body brought warmth to her cold one. It brought her at peace and made her tear up. Rafaela thinks of the future, a future where Austin isn't present. Where he wasn't lighting up Rafaela's word. It was war they were talking about and Rafaela relates war to death.  "I won't be." Rafaela inhales and buries her face on Austin's muscular chest. Rafaela feels the muscles twitch with every move that Austin does, but at the same time, it was soft. She feels her worry growing stronger inside her as she is being embraced by the deity that she loved so much.  "What if you lose in the war?"  Austin gently rubs Rafaela's back. The sensation giving Rafaela a sense of reassurance. Austin pats the top of Rafaela's head gently, comforting Rafaela's mind, pushing away the unwanted thoughts.  "Even if I do lose, they won't kill me."  "Why?" Rafaela sniffs, getting a whiff of Austin's scent. "Because the reason why we're at war is because I don't like the responsibility of being a prince."  "So they're going to force you to come back?"  "Yes. If that happens, they'll lock all the portals. But I promise you, on my name, that I will win this war."  "But what if, you know? What if you do lose?" Rafaela was begging for an answer. She thinks that it was going to the final reassurance she needs that he won't leave her. She was going crazy and she thinks she will be if she loses him.  Austin breaks the hug and looks at Rafaela in the eyes, showing how determined he was to win, to not lose the love of his immortal life and the joy that he felt. The things that happened in the human world was what was feeding Austin inspiration to stand up with his head held up high.  "Pharsa will find me a way or Mine. I will do everything I can to come back to you. I know it won't be easy but letting go of what I had here in the human world is harder." Austin gave Rafaela a charming smile.  "It's so hard to let go of you. I don't want anyone else. It's just you."  Austin's words somewhat calmed Rafaela down.  But it was still too soon to say.  The two decided to sleep, and so they did. The next morning, Austin woke up to Rafaela looking outside. Rafaela was still wearing her night gown while Austin wore no clothing on his upper body and some baggy pants for his lower portion of his body.  The cold didn't bother Austin, but he wasn't so sure about Rafaela. The night gown was a bit revealing, so it was cold. Austin gets off of Rafaela's bed and hugged Rafaela from behind. Rafaela leans her body on Austin's and hums in content. The two looked over at the foggy mountains ahead. Rafaela was trying to keep her mind busy by asking nonsensical things that doesn't involve her.  "You alright, babe?" Rafaela turns around, "What is with you and these 'babe'?" Rafaela giggles. It was so early in the morning and the two were already being so sweet.  "What? I practically live here, so I might as well act like your husband." Austin kisses Rafaela's cheeks.  "Or wife,"  "Speaking of wife, are you okay with being seen with me being August?" Rafaela scoffs and rolls her eyes, her attitude coming back, but it was always amusing to Austin. How his girl can be so sassy and bossy yet look so beautiful and innocent. Like an angel with the form of a devil.  "Of course, duh. I don't care about what others think. I'm way past that vulnerability phase."  Austin nods multiple tips, banging his head to an unheard beat. Rafaela shakes her head but with a smile on her face.  "You're so spontaneous sometimes,"  "Do you hate it?" Austin asks, teasing Rafaela. He knows Rafaela likes it. It was evident on Rafaela's smile. No matter what Rafaela reacts, a smile was always present.  "I like it, you dork."  "Then I like it when you call me 'dork'," Rafaela pinches Austin's nose and squeals like a little girl.  "You're so adorable."  Rafael interrupted their morning moment,  "Breakfast is ready!"
