Third Person's P.O.V
"If I may ask," Layla started first.
In the middle of the party, Rafaela Wilson had regained memory of bringing another person with her. She looks around but didn't see August. She began to worry and tugged helplessly at Sarah's elbow. The second she turns around to Sarah, the second she was mistaken. It wasn't Sarah who she was dancing anymore.
It was another female, but not Sarah. Rafaela decides to detach herself from the partying peer and looked around for any possible signs of August. The entire time Rafaela was looking for her lover, she held her breath, hoping that she was okay.
There was still one floor that she hadn't checked yet. It was off limits to the parties but Rafaela just wanted to check. She sneakily walks up the stairs, making sure no one saw her and proceeded to walk down the hallway.
She walks and walks, opening every door and checking if August was there but she didn't need to. Because at the end of the hallway was where she found August with another girl. A pretty one at that. Rafaela immediately felt something bad grow inside her. She felt jealous.
Layla Jones felt the presence of Rafaela and decided to call out to her, to attend to August, who was having a hard time breathing, and dizzy.
"Rafaela, quick, help!"
The name made August turn around ever so softly, afraid that she might really puke.
"Who are you?" the tone came harsh in Layla's ears, intended by Rafaela herself.
It must be the booze but Rafaela found the courage to claim August as hers loudly.
"Who am I is not of your concern. Help your beloved." Layla stated to blatantly to avoid anymore misunderstanding but Rafaela didn't get that.
"Hey, I'm fine." August grabbed Layla's hand and used it to get up, but she couldn't.
August's sight was swirling so much that she immediately fell down. She closed her eyes shut, keeping her own self steady. August groans. Layla didn't like humans, because they were gullible and vulnerable. They were too complacent of what they're used to that when it comes to new things, they become ignorant in accepting change.
But Layla had no choice when the ruler of the Underworld himself ordered her to watch over his daughter. Defying a command would be the death of her and her entire vampire. She, too, had something she has to protect at all costs even if it means approaching her hatred.
Rafaela saw how August collapsed and instantly felt bad for ever questioning her loyalty. Slowly, Rafaela began to feel sober and worried.
"You call yourself her beloved but then you brought Her Highness to a place like this? Where in all realms did you think that was alright? You selfish human."
The words stabbed directly in Rafaela's heart, not even missing one dagger. Rafaela felt bad, guilty even. Rafaela knew about August's situation. Rafaela thought that she could at least make August get used to crowded places, but she was enjoying herself too much that she had lost grasp of her objective and she made a mistake. A grave one.
"Talk to Her Highness when you have your s**t together, human." Layla gently places the almost-unconscious August's arm on her shoulder and teleported themselves on August's apartment, leaving Rafaela behind and speechless.
After a few moments or self-evaluation, Rafaela went down and searched for Sarah and Earl. But they, too, were looking for her. They managed to meet up at the door. The sullen expression on Rafaela's face made Sarah knew that she was right.
"Ah, it's the same for August?" Sarah asks, perking Rafaela's attention.
"What do you mean?"
"I found Pharsa vomiting somewhere, and she kept saying how she was dizzy."
Rafaela looked down, feeling even more guilty now.
"Where's August, by the way?" Earl decided to ask.
"I didn't see how she was struggling and apparently, someone saw her first and treated her first."
Sarah and Earl exchanged a meaningful look. They could feel how bad Rafaela was feeling. They knew how it sucks when someone else gets there first than the lover does. Sarah rubs Rafaela's back gently, attempting to soothe.
"Uh," Pharsa was holding her head as she walked to the trio.
"Hey, you shouldn't push yourself." Sarah told Pharsa and helped her steady herself up.
"I, I think I want to go home. I'll, ugh, see you at school." Pharsa struggles to keep one sentence in check as her mind was foggy.
"I'll accompany you home." Sarah says.
"You want to go with them?" Earl asks Rafaela. Rafaela thinks and feels like she's done some murdering and decided not to.
"I don't want my apology to sound too sappy." Earl giggles.
"Alright, then we'll go home."
The four of them went their own way. The next morning, Pharsa woke up to a set of twin, red orbs looking at her. She sprung up and searched the room.
"I know you're here, Layla." Pharsa says as she did not see anyone in her room.
Pharsa hears a light chuckle before a woman appeared in front of her.
"Still sharp, huh."
"Your staring is just too. too there."
"Can't even word it right, Princess Pharsa?"
Pharsa grumbles and pulls the cover up her head, and decided to go back to sleep.
"I'm here to protect you, Princess Pharsa."
"Father is too persistent. Tell me, what dirt does he have on you?" the covers moved as Pharsa talks. She still felt light-headed, but not too much as to compare to that of yesterday.
Layla sits on the edge of Pharsa's bed, taking her time in looking around Pharsa's somewhat decorated room.
"He doesn't."
"That's absurd. You won't be here if he doesn't."
"Princess,"
"What is it?"
"I stay loyal to the ruler I serve."
"..." Pharsa didn't say anything.
"It's still a question for me as to how you like it here when they're all so selfish."
"Sarah's not selfish." Pharsa murmured but Layla heard it.
"Ah, so you like a specific human."
"Hey!" Pharsa sprung up from her bed and sat straight.
Pharsa's hair went all over the place and had bags under her eyes, but not so much as to make her look hideous. Layla saw the firmness in Pharsa's protest by how Pharsa was staring her down.
"You already sound so human, Princess."
Pharsa sighs and decides to take a bath. She knew Layla will follow her, like she always does when Layla's assigned to protect he as they travel somewhere. Pharsa started undressing while Layla watch her as she does so.
"Layla, how long will you be staying here?"
"Hmm, I do not know yet for sure,"
Layla is an old vampire, so old that she dates back as to when gods and goddesses held a war against the titans. She was there, she was one of those that got protected by the deities' light. Layla's so old that she has tasted many great things, but she wasn't allowed to taste one thing that she wanted to for such a long time.
Pharsa's naked body was laid out in front of Layla. Pharsa does not know the alluring gaze which Layla held for her. Layla knows of how August was her first, and her frequent. No one has yet to beat August at that, which was shocking to Layla as her princess always likes to sleep around as well.
"Help us train then,"
Pharsa gets inside her own bathroom, leaving the door open for Layla to enter. Pharsa runs the water on her bathtub and waits for it to fill. Layla stops at the door and leans her back on the door, crossing her arms, feasting her eyes upon Pharsa's scrumptious body.
"Train for what?"
"I cant always depend on you when we're dealing with deities."
"Hmm, you're right."
Vampires and other demonic beasts are afraid of deities, as they are their enemies. Light rules darkness. If there is light, there is no darkness. If there is darkness, light will come. That was why deities are above and demonic beasts are underground.
"Train us," Pharsa repeats.
"Who do you mean by 'us'?"
"Just me and August."
"Is that what Her Highness calls herself? I admit, that is pretty close to Agnostos." the amusement was evident in Layla's voice.
"Right? I even applauded her for it."
The bathtub was now full of semi-hot water. Pharsa tests the water on her finger and smiled when it was the right amount of hotness made for her skin. She dips in slowly and gracefully, unlike her usual behavior in the human world. Pharsa felt like she should show some elegance since someone she knows in the underworld was there beside her. The hot bath soaked Pharsa's tired body and mind.
The water felt nice to her skin. A moan escaped Pharsa's and closes her eyes, letting her guard down. Pharsa closing her eyes meant Layla could stare at Pharsa as much as she wants. Layla's eyes traveled to Pharsa's breasts, looking like they were floating above the water.
Pharsa's flushed face and her body in full view made Layla imagine of erotic things that she could be doing to Pharsa as of the moment. Unfortunately for Layla, she couldn't peek much further down as the tub was in the way. Vampires are afraid of water, if they weren't nullified of celestial properties as water symbolizes holiness.
"Princess, did you not like Her Highness before?" Pharsa grunted at the memory of herself running after August's retreating figure every time August was to leave.
"Oh, please, don't remind me."
"So you're completely over her now, Princess?"
"Yes, yes I am, thankfully. It hurt very much when I saw her looking at Rafaela the way she wasn't looking at me."
Pharsa smiles at herself, congratulating herself that she managed to escape the hell-hole which she called August Love Maze. It had been seven years since she fell in love with August and Pharsa didn't think she'd forget about August that easily because of another love interest.
"I had figured. So, when shall you train?"
"You're right. Well, can you check up on August and ask her when she's ready?"
"Understood."
A few minutes later, a ruckus was heard.
"What do you mean you're going to quit school?" Pharsa yells, not understanding August's way of thinking. Layla sits at the back, listening to their argument.
"I don't want them to target the school any longer." August stated so nonchalantly, like she had given up on the thought of school.
Pharsa couldn't take it. Pharsa had managed to find something to look forward to getting up to for the day and now August was telling her that August was going to quit.
"What about Rafaela? Won't you need to keep a close eye on her?"
"I can send a replication." Pharsa grits her teeth.
"Then what about me?"
"You can always choose, Pharsa." the statement made Pharsa softened.
Pharsa had initially thought that she had to quit as well.
"R-really?" Pharsa asks, making sure what she heard was right.
"Yes," August smiles at her and gives her a side hug.
"I don't want to be the hindrance of your and Sarah's sprouting love." Pharsa pushes August away, making August chuckle before turning to Layla.
"Thank you for tending to me."
"It was a pleasure, Your Highness." Layla kneels before August.
"You can call me 'August', as I am running away from my responsibilities."
Hmm. Layla thought to herself.
"Shall we practice spar right now?" Pharsa asks, quickly changing the subject before August could bring up any more embarrassing topics.
"Sure. Please be gentle with me." August says with a smile.
The three immediately teleports themselves somewhere where there were only trees and nature surrounding the area. August had came here once and that was when she was flying around, looking for a nice spot to let out her inner abilities as they sometimes tend to feel too much when being kept hidden all the time. A side of her wanted to boast to someone that she was superior while another side of her wanted to be humble.
"This is a nice place." Pharsa commented.
"Yeah. I found it the other day."
"Shall we start?"
"Alright."
Pharsa and August distanced themselves from each other. Layla stayed back as well, spectating the spar from a distance. Pharsa began to bring out her wings and August did the same.
"Huh. It really is different from the others." Layla said to herself when she noticed how August's wings were different, like her beloved Princess, who has two different wings; black and white.
"Whenever you're ready." Pharsa shouted.
"Alright, then go!" August shouted back.
Within a split second, August was already in front of Pharsa, catching Pharsa off guard, underestimating August's speed. August surprised Layla. Layla didn't think that the Prince of Olympus had any experience in fighting. Layla couldn't see August moving, which made her more surprised.
Pharsa managed to block August's attack by swatting August's hand away and kicking August to create some distance between them. Layla was evaluating August's attacks, leveling them. August had again surprised Layla when August decided to use both darkness and light at the same time on each end of Pharsa's sight, blinding her.
"What the.." Layla muttered to herself, shocked by August's ability to wield different attributes at the same time, but more so because it was both power that go against each other.
Pharsa could only back away as fast as she could so as to escape August's tactical approach in their fight. Pharsa closed her eyes and heightened her senses. This was why she had always kept a blindfold. It was to practice her senses and not because it makes her feel that s*x is great regardless of who she was with.
"Ooh," August was impressed by Pharsa's ability to judge a situation so quick.
Layla couldn't tell who was smarter than the other. Layla thinks that they both could make a great team.
"They didn't even need to train to know. They're too advanced." Layla says to herself, somewhat proud of how the two were turning out.
"But I believe there was one more? I believe her name was Mine? I wonder if she's as good as these two and as her mother as well." Layla couldn't help but wonder.
Sarah, Earl and Rafaela decided to take a stroll around the town. Earl had snatched his father's car and took it for a drive with the other two. They were resting at some secluded place when they felt rumblings on the ground and it suddenly turned very dark on the other side and the other, very light.
The trees were mostly blocking both abilities, but they could still see it. They were taking their minds off some things but then they were experiencing this.
"This is dangerous," Earl says, concerned for their well-being his father's car.
"What if we take a peek and tell August and Pharsa what we saw?"
"Uhmmm," Rafaela thinks about it for a second, weighing down which was more important.
If I do this, will August forgive me?
"Fine," Earl gives in first, making Rafaela reconsider.
"Alright, fine."
"Let's go!"
They bust through trees, bushes and vines. What they saw surprised them. Familiar golden wings, familiar black and white wings, a fierce battle and one spectator. Of course, Layla had sensed their presence and decided to ignore them watching.
A smile was on August's face, as well as Pharsa's, although her eyes were closed. Rafaela couldn't help but feel helpless, useless. A mere human with someone like August. Her self-confidence running low at the sight of how admirable August was being.
I was such a d**k yesterday. Rafaela scolded herself.
"They're good." Earl could tell just how good the two were.
"I don't think Pharsa's behind." Sarah commented, watching Pharsa's evaluation of the situation.
"I could tell too." Earl agreed and for the second time, they have something that they agree on.
But the fight ended early. Another entity disrupted the earth causing the fight to cease. An entity descended from the skies and landed in the middle of the battlefield, creating a hole upon landing. The fearsome aura had reminded Layla of a goddess that could make anyone kneel with just a look.
Layla became alert and immediately went to Pharsa's side, protecting her from what may come. The three were shook to see an intruder and held their heads low.
The entity stood up, slowly, as the dirt and dust finally starts to clear. Athena. Athena turns to where August was and made August flinch. The menacing stare of Athena made August feel small. Athena's overwhelming presence was announced to everyone in the vicinity, and the three weren't an exception.
Athena broke her stare at August and looked over at the three that were hiding behind the bushes. When Athena confirmed that they were just ordinary humans, she decided to let them be. August gulped and stood tall, facing Athena.
"They finally sent you, Athena?" August mustered up the courage to face Athena.
August wasn't usually this afraid of Athena. In fact, Athena was sweet to her so Athena's title didn't get to August, that was until now. Athena was feared by many and now that August was one of the objectives, August could finally feel Athena's presence during battle.
Athena takes a step forward to where August was. With each step she takes creates a hole on the ground due to immense power and immense strength. August's heartbeat began to thump loudly, in sync with Athena's loud steps. August had prepared herself for the worst. Layla and Pharsa readies themselves.
When Athena was at a good distance from August, she fell to her knees and bowed down to August, surprising everyone.
"Athena?" August whispered.
"I apologize, Your Highness."
August retracts her wings and knelt down in front of Athena.
"Do you want to talk?"
