FIRST MEET
SUNSET’S POV
“Hey you, okay?” Her friend Ash asked her.
She glares at her and secretly pinches her side.
“Aww, that hurts.” Her friend pouted, making her eyes widen and quickly look at the two men sitting in front of them.
“So, are you okay with my offer, Ms. Sunset?” Mr. Ace asked her again.
She looks at the guy, but she quickly looks away when he keeps staring at her.
She didn’t know what to do. She didn’t know what to answer because she was shocked at what he had told her earlier.
FLASHBACK EARLIER
“Nice to meet you, I’m Ace Axton Carter, and are you?” The tall, dark and handsome introduced himself to her and offered his hand to shake hands. With her shaking hands she took it and shook hands with him, but she quickly pulled away. She felt awkward.
“I’m Sunset Torres, pleased to meet you sir.”
“Okay, let's get straight to the point of why we are here today,” said Mr. Ace and sat down in front of them.
With a nervous feeling, she secretly held her friend's hand and sat down too.
“Did Ash tell you why you are here?” Mr. Ace asked her.
She shook her head and smiled nervously. This guy is so intimidating.
“She just told me that I am going to work for her boyfriend’s boss, and I think, that is you?”
Mr. Ace nodded his head and looked at his secretary and motioned him to give the folder to her.
Without asking if that’s for her, she gets it and opens it to read what’s inside.
Marriage Contract, that was written inside.
She quickly looks at her friend and raises her brows to her, but she just awkwardly smiles at her.
“You read it first and tell me your thoughts.” Mr. Ace said, and she just nodded her head.
“You will act as his wife and the mother of his daughter.” She mumbles as she read the contract.
“All you need to do is to take care of them.”
“You will get five hundred thousand Philippine pesos per month for your payment.” Her eyes widened, and she looked at the man in front of her who was busy observing her.
“F-Five hundred thousand?” she mumbles, shocked and looking back at the contract and continues reading it.
“You will get married legally.”
“You will get a divorce when the right time has come. Don’t worry about the expenses, Mr. Ace Axton will take care of it.”
She quickly closes the folder and looks at the people in front of her.
“So?” Mr. Ace asked. She didn't look at him and faced her friend.
“You want me to sell myself?” She asked in disbelief.
Her friend’s eyes widened and she shook her head.
“Of course not, all I want is to help you, best friend, and besides, the offer is so big, you can help your family big time.” Ash, her friend, answered and patted her back.
“Don’t think about that again, I just really want you to grow up. This offer is once in a blue moon. " You can save a lot of money for your dream for your family and for your own dream as a doctor,” her friend added.
END OF THE FLASHBACK
“So, Ms. Sunset? " I’m a busy person and I don’t want to stay here just to wait for you.” Mr. Ace said annoyed.
She bit her lower lip, and she saw how this guy watched it. She looked away when both eyes met.
“I have a question.” She started.
“Shoot.” Mr. Ace said
“Am I going to stay at your house?”
“Yes.”
“Do I need to act like your wife all the time? Even in the house?”
“Yes, of course, we will get married legally,” he answered.
“Is your daughter nice?”
“She is.” Mr. Ace smiles
“Are we going to stay in one bedroom?” she asked shyly.
“Yes, and as I said earlier, we are going to get married legally.”
She rubs the back of her head because of his answer.
“A-Are we going to do that?” She asked again but stuttering.
“Doing what?” He asked, raising his brow at her.
She nervously bit her lower lip.
“T-That thing, y-you know. T-the h-honeymoon.”
She was startled when her friend and her friend's boyfriend laughed while Mr. Ace smirks at her.
“Don’t worry about that, I can control myself, and I am not going to force you into that, so you are safe.” He answered, which made her feel relieved.
“So, are you okay with the contract?” Mr. Ace asked again.
She looks at her friend and nods her head.
“I am just worried, you know, about my family. And besides, am I worthy of being your wife? I haven’t finished college; I am just an island girl. What if your friends or colleagues ask? " What am I going to answer?” she asked worriedly.
“Ash and Dash, please leave us alone. " I want to talk to her privately.” Mr. Ace ordered the two, and she quickly nervously looked at Ash and Mr. Ace notices it.
“Don’t worry, I am not going to do anything bad to you, I just want you to be comfortable talking to me,” he said, assuring her, and so she just nodded her head.
As the two left them, she cleared her throat and drank her water.
“Don’t be nervous. "I don’t bite.” He chuckles as he watches her.
She nervously puts down her glass of water and bravely looks at him.
“About your worries, we can talk to your family and tell them about the contract.” He started, which made her shocked, but she knew her family would not agree with this contract. So, she quickly butted in.
“My family will not like it; can we just hide it from them? Let’s just say we are pretending but don’t tell them that we are legally married.”
“But what if they learn about it? " How are we going to explain it?” he asked seriously.
She bit her lower lip and thought about it.
“Maybe we will go there when that time comes.” She answered shyly.
“Okay, so about not being a degree holder, don’t think about it, I don’t care what they will think, we can just simply tell them that it’s love at first sight simple as that.”
She observed how he talked, and she could tell that this man was so smart.
“I heard, you like to be a doctor?” he asked suddenly, and she nodded happily.
Talking about her dream forgets all her problems.
“Yes, it’s my dream to be a doctor. "I want to help those people who are in need when it comes to hospital matters.” She answered, smiling widely.
“Oh, that’s nice, I’m a doctor by the way,” he said and her eyes widened.
“Holy molly, really? "What kind of doctor?” she asked excitedly.
She had already forgotten the awkwardness, and she saw how he smiled staring at her.
“I’m a neurologist.” He answered, which made her eyes widen again.
“Oh my gosh, that’s what I want to be.” She squealed with delight.
ACE’S POV
“Oh my gosh, that’s what I want to be.” She squealed with delight.
He watched her and he chuckled at her reactions.
This was his first time meeting a person who was so engrossed in wanting to be a doctor.
He can tell that his daughter will like this person.
She radiates happiness he hates to admit, but he likes how she talks. Hopefully this plan will work.
He just wants her daughter to be happy. Maybe some people will wonder why he needs to make a marriage contract and why it should be legal, because his daughter’s already in kindergarten, and they will have a family activity and both parents should be present, but his not-so-good ex-wife doesn’t want to participate. Why? She doesn’t want to associate with us anymore because she is busy with her new lover, which makes him pissed off.
He doesn't love her anymore; he just wants her daughter to be happy at that event. He remembers what his daughter said to him two days ago.
“How I wish I had a new mommy, a mommy who will always be there for me, daddy,” his daughter said.
That’s why this plan was made and hopefully her daughter will like it. The event will be two weeks from now, and he really needs to close this deal already.
“Doc, you, okay?” He heard her ask, so he quickly looked at her and their eyes met again. She has beautiful eyes, and she looks so innocent.
“Yes, if you want. "I can enroll you at medicine school,” he said, which made her eyes widen.
He likes watching her reactions. She looks cute.
His brows met in his own thought. What is that?
“Doc, that offer is so tempting, but it costs too much. Maybe, after I finish my dream house for my family and save more money, I will enroll myself.” She answered, smiling at him.
“No, I insist, and besides hearing what you said, does this mean you accepted the offer?”
She rubs the back of her head and nods.
“The money offer is big Doc, and besides, you look and sound nice. And your secretary is my friend’s boyfriend, so I think this is safe.” She shyly answered, which made him chuckle.
“That’s nice to know, here, can you sign it?” He offered the contract and the lady did what he told her.
“I hope this is a good decision.” He heard her mumble.
“No worries, I assure you, you made the best decision,” he assured her.
“Okay Doc, so what are we going to do next? Am I going to meet your daughter now?” she asked shyly, and he nodded his head.
“Yeah, but first, we are going to get married right now,” he answered seriously.
He wanted to laugh when he saw how her face paled at what he said.
