THE GIRL IN THE YEARBOOK
Episode 1 - The Girl In The Yearbook
I wasn't trying to remember her.
She just... slipped in.
Like static from an old radio station - barely there, but impossible to ignore.

It started with the yearbook.
I wasn't even supposed to find it - just cleaning out old boxes in the attic.
The kind that smell like dust, forgotten promises, and paper moth wings.
I opened the pages, expecting boredom.
Instead, I found her.
Page 42. Row three. Last column.
A girl with short, ink-black hair and a half-smile - like she knew something the rest of us didn't.
Name: Meher V.
But something about her felt... off.
Not in a bad way.
Just... like she wasn't supposed to be there.
Or maybe I wasn't supposed to see her.

The problem wasn't that I didn't remember her.
The problem was - no one else did.
Not my classmates.
Not my teachers.
Not even my best friend who swore she sat in the same row every single day.
They just blinked at me.
"Meher who?"
We flipped through the same yearbook together.
Her photo wasn't there anymore.
Just a blank corner. Like the page had glitched. Or erased itself.

But I'd seen her.
I know I had.
That night, I couldn't sleep.
I kept whispering her name.
Meher.
Meher.
Meher.
It echoed like chalk squeaking on a blackboard deep inside my mind.
And then the dreams began.
Footsteps down empty hallways.
Sunlight dancing through windows.
A girl at the very back of a classroom. Always near the window. Always out of focus.

She never spoke.
She never moved.
She just looked at me.
Like she was waiting.
Like I had promised her something long ago.
And now...
I think she wants me to remember what it was.
