"where am I?". Julesasked.
Her question was answered with a loud bang and she realized that whoever she was talking to had left.Her throat was parched. I have too get out of here. She thought to herself. Who kidnaps somebody just to be prom queen?this is blatant stupidity. She thought again,struggling to untie her hands. Whoever tied this ropes was definitely an amateur,its coming off so easily.
"Listen up guys".Max called into the microphone."We are going to announce our prom queen now.Surprisingly,we had only four contestants this year,Stacy,Jules,Sophie and Kyra.Stacy and Kyra opted out at the last minute so that leaves us with Jules and Sophie."
"Terry,Katie".Ron called no longer listening to Max."Have you guys seen Jules anywhere?,she didn't pick up yesterday and now there's word going around that she ran out of town"..
"Jules doesn't act on whims trust me,she didn't run 'cos she wouldn't miss this event for the world."Terry answered with a smile,seeing the look on Ron's face she thought. Somebody is in love.
"Do you think its a guy??"Ron asked with a frown.She upped and ran with him?".
"Ronnie".Katie answered."The guy she likes is still around so get that thought 'outta your head and join in the merriment,Jules baby would be back".
"So err the guy??".Ron asked with a sheepish grin.
"Yes??"Terry asked with a smirk.
"Is it me?".
"Nope"Terry answered."Its Gus,excuse us".Terry added and walked away.
Gus Gus Gus,Ron's mind screamed.Why would she like Gus??? And not him??
"Going with the votes,"Max continued,oblivious to the turmoil one of his guests was in."Jules is our prom queen but as she's nowhere to be found,we are going to crown Sophie".
There was a lengthy round of applause after which Max continued.
"Sophie,come on stage,do you have anything to say?"
"Yes"
"Go on".Max said giving her the microphone.
"Well,I want to thank everyone that voted for me,I wouldn't be giving this speech with yoou guys.Thank you,this is a privilege".Sophie concluded with a smile and handed the microphone back to Max.
"Peter and Katie".Max called "Come up and crown Sophie and her date".
The gym was quiet as everyone watched the scene on the stage unfold.
The moment has finally come. Sophie thought to herself.
"Wait!!!!"Someone called.
Everybody turned to the direction of the voice.It was Jules,she was in yesterday's clothes and she looked very disheveled.
"What are you doing here?v".Sophie screeched"You are supposed to be out of town".
"Yeah,I'm supposed to but I'm not.I'm here to expose you".Jules answered cooly.
"I haven't done anything wrong".Sophie said.
"No you haven't.Kidnapping is now legal right?"Jules asked.
"-i didn't kidnap you".Sophie answered..
"Who said you did?but apparently,you've confessed your crime".
"I don't know what you are talking about".
"Well,let me refresh your memory".Jules said and continued."Yesterday,you had someone follow me out of the party,he offered me a ride,and water which I accepted but you had drugged the water".
"How do you know it was me?".Sophie asked.
"When I managed to free myself,I realized I was in a attic and I saw pictures of you and your family,I even took some 'cos. I knew you'lld want proof."Jules said bringing the pictures out.
"Yes I was behind it".Sophie said in a resigned voice..But it was 'cos I wanted to be prom queen".
"Really,this prom queen thing is overrated.mYou didn't have to kidnap me to win,you just had to get people to vote for you".
"I did".Sophie said.
"Well,you are disqualified and you need to leave this party now.You cheated".Jules said moving towards the stage.
"I'm not leaving".Sophie retorted.
"Perhaps,you want me to call on the attention of Mrs Coleman".
"Fine I'll leave".Sophie said storming out.
"So you want to dance?"Ron asked Jules
"Yes.I didn't realize you'll loook this good in a tuxedo".Jules answered.
"Thank,you don't look bad yourself".
Jules looked at her clothes and said,"You are kidding right?I got this clothes out of costume room".
"Yeah I know,but they are nice".
Jules looked around her as they made their way to the dance floor.There were actual ballon arches and twisted garlands of pastel crepe paper festooning the walls.There were a couple of people already on the dance floor twirling to the music,what happened earlier already forgotten.
When they got to the dance flloor,Ron put his hands on her back and she put hers on his shoulders and they began to dance.
"Ron,there's something you should know".Jules said after a few minutes of dancing in silence.
Oh noo.Ron thought,this is the part where she tells me she likes Gus."Go on,I'm listening".
"The thing is that....I".Jules,ever the drama queen paused for effect."I really like you".
"Well for a moment there,I thought you were going to say something else.That's good 'cos I like you too".Ron replied,looking straightinto her eyes,her very brown eyes.like a chocolate fountain. He mused silently.
"So,you er 'wanna hang out sometime?"Jules asked,she couldn't seem to break the eye contact.
"No".Ron answered.
"Ohh.."Jules said with a confused smile.
"I 'wanna do it right this time,".Ron said."I want to go n a real date with you".
"Oh.okay".
"How does tomorrow sound?,we'll do anything you want".Ron asked.
"Tomorrow is perfect"..Jules answered.
"Its a date then".Ron said giving her a dazzling smile.
Life couldn't be more perfect. Jules thought to herself. Here she was,completely and finally over Gus and was utterly content to remain in Ronald's arms. She leaned into Ronald,and pressed her slightly opened lips to his.
My life is perfect. Ronald thought to himself as he settled into the kiss. Finally,she tastes like her brownies. He thought again.
"Get a room". Someone on the dance floor called.
