Jules rolled in bed and turned off her alarm.The day had finally come,11th of May.She was going to write her exams today,the exams that determined whether she would go to college or not.She was sure she was going to pass SATs because she had read very well but she could still feel the tension in her bones. A long soak in the tub can help soothe the tension. She thought to herself as she rolled out of bed,but there was no time.She looked at the clock on her bedside table 8::30 am. Humph,so much for getting up early. she thought to herself as she hurried into d bathroom.
Knock, Knock
"Tina".Jules called as she knocked on her door.
Tina opened the door,took in Jules already dressed state and asked."What's with the rush??,Exams are not until ten".
"Did you happen to look at your clock when you crawled out of bed?".Jules asked with a sweet smile.
"No,I didn't".
"Then go take a look at it.By the way,Gus is downstairs already and we are leaving soon".Jules said turning around to leave.
"Wait a second"Tina called and dashed to her bedside table."Its 9:20".Tina screamed and ran into the bathroom.
"Hurry up".Jules called after her and skipped downstairs.
The school hall was filled with tension as the row call was taken.Fifteen minutes later,exams had fully started.The hall was very quiet and the only thing that could be heard was the shuffling of papers and the sound of the proctor's feet as he walked around the hall.They were about a hundred and fifty students in the hall so a couple of school teachers assisted the proctor in invigilating the exam.They were arranged according to the first letter of their surname' so,all. Jules friends apart from Cameron and Karan whose surname started with a B were faraway from her.
Jules looked at her wrist watch,12:02 pm,great she had less than a hundred questions to answer before her time was up.She hoped. Her students remembered the time management lesson she gave them and hoped they had their wristwatch on.A teacher was always proud of herself when all her students passed exams and tests.Jules looked at her wristwatch again,12:30 and she was on the last question,she had enough time to proofread her work.She looked around her,the people around her seemed to be through already
Terry looked at her wristwatch,12:31,good she was right on time.
Gus looked at his wristwatch 12:30,seems like time is on my side. He thought to himself. Just two more questions and I'm done. Ten minutes later,he looked around while pretending to still be writing.Everyone of his friends looked like they were done because they were doing what he was doing-looking around while pretending to be writing.Jules looked as though she had finished hours before the exam even started.
Finally........
"Pencils down!!!!".The proctor called from the front of the hall.
Ronald looked at his wristwatch 1:00pm. Goood thing I'm at the back of the hall. He thought to himself as he shaded the answer to the last question.
Grrrrrrriiinnggg.....
"Hey mum". Jules called as she put her phone to her ear.
"How's my favorite daughter doing??".
"I'm your only daughter and I'm fine".
"How was the exam?".
"It was good"
"When is the result coming out?".
"Um-three to six weeks time,we were one of the first set of people to write".
"Okay,your dad and I would fly in for your graduation".
"Thanks Mum,that's so sweet of you".
"You are our only child and as you pointed out,our only daughter,its the least we can do".
"Thanks again".
"After grads,you can still stay with the Waters if you want or you can come stay with us".
"I will stay with the Waters".
"Ohh,'cos of Gus?".
"Mummmm....."
"How's he by the way?".Mrs Cancaster asked in a mischievous voice.
"Mum.....do I really have to answer that??",Jules asked trying to sound experated but failing miserably.
"I understand perfectly,its not the kind of love story you say over the phone".She replied laughing.
"Mum!!!!!".Jules called.
"I love you,take care of yourself okay".
"I love you too Mum".
"Bye darling,tell me about it when I come back".She said and hung up.
