“Who are you with?” Daniel asked. This was the first time he said something in full sentence ever since they got in the island.
Dontrell looked at the child. It never utter a word. The child looked like he was about thirteen years old. He was like the little version of Daniel but he was more colder.
Dontrell shrugged. He tried talking to him, earlier. Asking him questions but just like now, it was very quiet although, it still went with Dontrell towards Daniel’s position.
The child looked at Daniel. “Liam,” the little child said.
Dontrell and Madison slowly nodded and incorporated the expression, “Ahh,” like indicating now-i-know. While Daniel just looked at him. Dontrell thought that he was betrayed. He was the first one to ask him his name but he never answered but when Daniel asked, he immediately responded. It looked like the child already had his favorite.
After the people in the island had found a group or a person to be with, they heard a rattling chains moving.
They all looked everywhere to find where was it coming from.
They all looked at the space before a big rock. The big rock was about nine meters tall and the width already covered the whole island. On the space before it, they all saw that the ground moved open. Some gravels and sands fell inside the hollow space. The movement produced a vibration on the ground on where all of the people were standing. From it, they heard a ticking sound. It sounded like a ticking timer. They were all wondering what it was.
They were all confused on what was happening because first, they did not know what were they doing on the island and how did they end up there. They did not know the reason and they felt like they were all abducted. They did not consent anyone to bring them here. Some were frustrated because they could not blame anyone on the island because they looked like they were so confused as they were. Second, why was the ground moving and it looked it was a hidden door that could to some place.
They could still hear the sound of the falling of the gravels and sands below. Some of the brave people started walking towards there to check. They had found out that the ticking timer was embedded on a wall on the side.
The group of Daniel was still on their places. They did not dare to move because they did not know what could have happened if they try to get near it.
“What is that?” Daniel heard coming from the other person behind him.
The man he was talking with shrugged. The both of them started walking towards it. They were curious what was it.
“It is an underground,” Madison said. She heard it from the people talking in the distance. They were people who were now entering the entrance. It was a way down. It was an inclined plane directed to lead everyone down.
“Are we not going to follow them?” Dontrell asked to his three companion. Most of the people were now going in. Only a few of them were left.
“There is something inside,” Madison said.
Dontrell looked at her. “How did you know?” he asked because she was fast at knowing something.
Madison pointed her eyes, “I have a unique skill. I could easily hear from the distance,” she said with a smile and with her head held high indicating that she was proud of her talent.
“I think we should check it out,” Madison said and started walking slowly because the slippers that she was wearing was a bit of uncomfortable for her because of its big attribute. While Daniel was barefooted, he tried to walk on the spot where there were only a few gravels or with his toes, he shove away the gravels away from him.
Daniel, Dontrell, and Liam looked at Madison as she sprinted. “I heard someone said that only a minute left before the door closes. We have no other choice but to get there on time. Maybe we could have food and shelter there,” Madison said. They all looked at each other. She had a point. Maybe going in there was their only way to survive on the island. They did not know where it was located. They did not know if there would be a boat or an airplane that would pass through the island.
They saw that some of the people were already running towards the door and they had no choice but to run, as well.
They were all panting as they had reached the entrance. Only five seconds left. The entrance were now starting to close. Luckily, Daniel’s group got in time. They were some people who were still outside running towards the entrance but the moment the timer struck at zero, the door totally closed and they heard a bang coming from the outside.
The girls who had heard it shouted and they all covered their ears while Daniel froze. They did not know what it was. They did not know what happened outside. They did not know what happened to those who were left.
Dontrell noticed that Daniel froze the moment they heard the sound. Daniel knew it was a gunshot. All that happened six years ago flashed before his eyes. He also felt that the scar he had on his stomach that he got when he was still eighteen years old pounded. Dontrell tapped Daniel’s shoulder the reason for him to get back to reality.
“What happened to you?” Dontrell asked to him. Daniel shove away Dontrell’s hand on him. “Nothing,” he answered.
“What was that?" One of the man but no one answered him. He was not with someone, too. Everyone in the area were in pairs or in groups but he was alone. looked like he was on his forty’s. There were already white streaks on his hair. He was fat and his belly was so visible. He was wearing formal wear. He looked like he was working in a corporate world.
Daniel and his group started walking to where was headed. They could see a light towards the end. They did not noticed that they were inside a tunnel and the distance that they had towards the end was still approximately fifty meters away.
Most of the people already reach the end. While Daniel’s group was still inside the tunnel, they heard a mic echoed throughout the area.
“Hello,” that was what someone on the end of the microphone said.
