Chapter 5 Daniel started to open his eyes, slowly, as soon as he felt a water dropped on his face. The water dropped continuously. Daniel immediately sat up. The sun shuns behind the clouds. It was slowly hiding to it. It felt sad. It was crying. Daniel shook Dontrell from being unconscious. Dontrell groaned. His body was hurting and he did not know why. As he sat up, he had found the answer. They were on a rocky ground. They could also hear the how waves collided with each other and how the sea water took over the shore, it created ambient noise-- susurration. The clouds continued pouring droplets of rainwater onto them. It was only in small amounts, drizzle. Daniel and Dontrell were not the only people in the island. They were as confused as them. Some people were still unconscious. Some were men, some were women, some were old, and some were young. The stratification that the population they had right now were in random. Everyone where slowly regaining their consciousness because of the drizzle. It looked like they were all brought on the island at the same time. Those who did not know each other were now talking to each other. Trying to find someone who they thought they could have a friendly conversations with. Conversations that could lead into planning on how to survive into this island. They were all in an unknown island where the neighboring island was not even visible. They did not know how to get out of the freaking place they were in. Sooner or later, the people would feel hunger, thirst, and the need to survive. What caught Dontrell’s attention was the little kid on the shore. He was alone. No one dared to get near him. Dontrell stood up. “Wait a minute,” he said to Daniel. Daniel realized that he was still sitting on the ground. He could now feel how the small gravels poked his hands. He did not noticed it earlier. He slowly stood up and dust off his hands. He did not want to shock himself from sitting to standing. He got dizzy, sometimes. As he was slowly getting up, he saw a pair of foot stopped walking and stopped in front of him. Based from the person’s lean feet, it was a girl or a woman, rather. She had her nails done and it was cut very neatly. It was color in red and she was in high heels. Daniel looked up and he was now standing straight. He recognized who it was. He saw the red spot on her neck. Her black shiny hair was on midback-length. The last time he saw her hair the other day was it was still an armpit-length. The woman noticed where was Daniel looking. She combed her hair. “Ahh, this?” she asked. She ran her hands on the scalp and did some action that Daniel could not understand. He heard few clicks coming from her and the woman pulled a bunch of hairs. “It is always so refreshing to remove all of this during the day,” she said and bundled it up to one piece. “My normal hair length is back!” she happily exclaimed. Daniel proceeded to assessed her. Her face was all covered with makeup. Her cheeks and lips were red. His eyes stopped on her body. She was only wearing a lingerie. The woman immediately covered her body and he could see that her cheeks were blushing. “You are making me self-conscious,” she said as she noticed that Daniel was assessing her from head to toe. She was not able to wear any decent clothes because she did not expect that her client would place a sleeping pill in her drink. She suspected that it was really a sleeping pill because the last she remembered was she drank the wine given to her by the client and after that, she found herself in the island with other strangers. Luckily, she found Daniel who was familiar to her. Everyone wondered why they were all in the island. Some were talking with each other trying to share recent experiences because that might be the reason why they were all brought into the place but no, their experiences were different from each other. “Do you know who could have done this to us? And what are the possible reason?” the woman asked to him while she was taking off her sandals. It was already hurting her feet. “No,” Daniel simply answered but he removed his slippers from his feet and offered it to the woman without even saying anything. The ground was full of gravels. She could hurt her feet. If his little sister was still alive, he would do the same. The woman projected a huge grin on her face. “I did not know you could be this sweet,” she said while laughing. She wore the slippers offered by Daniel. It was big. She had only occupied the half of it but she did not complain. It was better than nothing. “Thank you!” the woman shouted. Daniel just shook his head. She was so loud. After a few minutes, Dontrell walked towards Daniel. While he was away, he could say that the woman was familiar but right now that he was already near, the woman was, indeed, familiar. She was the woman who was with Daniel the other day. He could not believe that he would saw her here, too. “Hello,” he greeted. “Ahh,” the woman gasped as she was pointing Dontrell while covering her mouth. Dontrell was familiar to her, too. He was a worker on her favorite eatery. “Hi,” the woman answered as she realized that she was frozen for a minute. She reached her hand, “I am Madison,” she said introducing herself. Dontrell accepted her hand, “Dontrell,” he answered. Daniel looked at the kid. He lookedd like he was the youngest in the group. “Who are you with?” Daniel asked. This was the first time he said something in full sentence eversince they got in the island.
