Chapter 21
Daniel looked at everyone. They had someone they did not know outside should they trust it and open the door? He did not know how would he be able to convey it to them if it could easily hear them from the outside since they were only a door in between them. He went his attention back on the peep hole. The man was still standing outside hugging himself to protect himself from the cold.
What is he up to? Daniel thought to himself.
Daniel looked at the door locks. There were a bunch of it lining in a column. He locked all five of it before he decided to talk with the person outside.
“What do you need?”
When the man heard Daniel talk he immediately tried to look to the peep hole but he could not see anything because it was blurry and dim.
“Stand back,” Daniel warned. The man immediately stood back.
Daniel observed the man and he looked like he was restless. They were all wearing the same clothes so he could not easily judge him based on his style.
“Again, what do you need?” Daniel asked again because the man did not answer him earlier which made Daniel became impatient. He always did not want to repeat himself.
The man was looking back several times before he decided to stay still and just stare at the door.
“I heard a shout coming from the opposite side of the area. I was just hoping if I could be with a group since it seemed to be safer in groups. I saw earlier that they were four of you who entered this house. Am I allowed to join in? Would be it okay for you all to recruit a lone man?”
Everyone looked at each other. They did not like how it approached them. The fact that he knew how many were they was a red flag. Did he kept an eye on them? Madison and Dontrell were shaking their heads to turn down the man outside.
Daniel peeped back to the peep hole and as he roamed his eyes around the outside area he saw something strange. He saw someone was hiding in a distant looking at the man in front of them. Based from the build, he concluded that it was a woman.
Are they together? Are they planning something?
Daniel shook his head in disappointment. He could not trust the man now especially that he had found out that it was lying to them.
“What is it?” Madison asked as she noticed the sudden change in Daniel’s face.
Liar. The was the word that Daniel mouthed. He could not speak it out loudly for the man could receive a hint that they already knew that he was not alone.
Madison, Dontrell, and Liam did not understand what Daniel said but they trusted his judgement.
