THE DARK

The rainy season was still going on,the evenings were noisy due to frogs croaking and children's laughter in their mothers' huts. Yasmin husband,Khalif looked worried,the truth is,he was afraid his wife to bear another daughter.They already had four daughters,Khalif always prays to Allah every day to bless him with a son. Yasmin would bear a child any day soon,her tummy was really big.The children always ask her what she had eaten. 'A child is no better than the other,'Khalif father would comfort his son,he was an aged man by then. Days passed really quick and a cry from Yasmin's hut was heard,the women knew it was time to welcome the new born child. The child was born in that rainy night,Khalif anxiety was killing him.He waited and prayed for Yasmin to deliver safely.He would meet his child in the morning. Early in the morning the child was taken to him,only to get disappointment again,it was another daughter,and he was to name her.
