Chapter 1
“Who am I? Where am I?”   Diane is your normal, average middle class 24 year old young working woman in this modern society. She still feels no sense of achievement whatsoever in her prime 20s. She’s been working in the entertainment industry as a Marketing Assistant for almost 2 years and nothing fruitful has come out of it. YET. That’s what she makes herself believe, not even experiencing some fun and risqué moments despite working in the entertainment industry. Her life was bland and so is her love life. She’s never been into a relationship nor had her first kiss; she really doesn’t mind being called a prude for being that way in this time and day, where people at her age have experienced all “adventurous” type of relationships. Even she doesn’t like how things turned out for her in the present day. Loveless. The train to work was as usual, slow as ever in arriving and Diane’s checking her phone’s lock screen for the nth time for the time, she woke up late and is unbothered about the consequences she’ll be facing when she gets to the office by her “evil” menopausal boss. “It be like that sometimes.” Diane said under her breath followed by a long sigh after she glanced on her phone’s screen ‘9:37 am’ she shoved her phone back in her tote bag, as the train is approaching it was at a speed that made her heartbeat fast for some reason and her feeling just felt off at that moment. Diane was in the safe line of the platform, but for some reason, she wasn’t feeling okay as the train is approaching in a much more frightening speed ‘What the hell? Is the train moving at a very dangerous speed or it just me?’ Diane looked back once more at the dangerously speeding train by moving a tad bit closer to get a better look, at that moment Diane felt a hard push on her lower back. As she turned to check who pushed her, it was too late as she fell on the tracks. The last images in her last moments were people on the platform above her with panicked looks and Diane accepted her fate and looked straight ahead, with wide eyes with her legs being too weak to even move an inch, she knew she was f****d. Diane pinched her eyes closed and waited for an impact but she couldn’t feel anything, she did feel something. It was something soft under her and the air was clear and pure silence is all she can hear. She slowly opened one eye and what she saw in her surroundings made her open both of her eyes in disbelief. Everything around her was bright and grand. Long furniture with an intricately designed coffee table was a few feet away from where she was lying. She glanced over to where she was lying down, it was a bed that was too large for her and she can’t even dream of having such a big king-sized bed in her whole life. ‘Am I even dead or in-between living but dying? Which is it?’ Diane wondered as she sat up. She was in a white lacey nightgown with puffy sleeves, the ones you only see on very crazy rich ladies or those 18th-century paintings. “What the f---“Diane was cut off as she was staring at her sleeves with only her fingertips, barely visible. When a woman in her late 20s entered the huge doors, she was in a very old fashioned maid’s uniform. She had panic in her eyes and at the same time a smile of relief as she approached Diane’s side. “Lady Crescella you’re finally awake!” the lady bawled in front of her, but Diane’s just had confusion painted all over her face. “Lady—what…” Diane said out loud and covered her mouth when she realized she said that out loud. Eyes wide, Diane looked at the tear stricken face of the old woman. “What’s wrong my lady, are you feeling unwell?” The woman looked more concerned now compared to as she entered the room earlier. Diane coughed “uh… a bit. I think I’ve lost my memory?” Diane thought this is the safest way to fake it till you make it, till she figures out why is she in this situation and how does she even look like. ‘Don’t tell me, I’m a different person right now?’ Diane stood up abruptly but the maid stopped her halfway. “My lady, you can’t move just yet. You’ve been asleep for almost a week after falling into the lake.” Diane had her brows furrowed trying to think hard and recall whatever memory this ‘Crescella’ had, and she had nothing. “I think you haven’t fully recovered yet and on top of that you have lost her memory, I must inform Duke Lancaster immediately.” The middle-aged woman stood up hastily and bolted right out of the huge intricate doors. “I didn’t even get her name…” Diane glanced to the window beside her. It was beautifully designed with such delicate intricate designs as the border. But the reflection that Diane saw, of her own reflection, made her gasped in shock. “WHAT???” Diane shrieked with both of her palms on her face. Not a minute wasted a group of well-dressed ladies in their neatly pressed uniforms and even butlers came rushing in Crescella’s room. “My lady, are you okay?” everyone said in unison with panic in their eyes. Diane started feeling awkward with everyone staring at her with full of concern. Whoever this Crescella is, she’s one heck of a lucky lady to be born this way. “….Yes, I’m fine. I was just…surprised to see a huge…bird(?) flying outside my window.” Diane smiled. ‘BIRD? Seriously’ “Ah, Yes. It’s that season right now of Griffin’s migrating in our parts of the nation.” Said the butler, he had sharp features that well-matched his neatly styled gray hair. He seems to be in his mid-sixties or maybe near the age of the older woman who checked on Crescella earlier. “G-griffins?” Diane stuttered and swallowed hard. Diane was panicking with the thought that wherever she is, it seems like mythical fictional creatures EXIST. “Yes, Griffins; you will be seeing them quite often my lady, such beautiful creatures.” The butler said smiling. ‘In my world…this old man can be considered as a Daddy material’ Diane shook her head and tried to erase such thought on someone she just met. That was so inappropriate. “So, everyone let’s get back to our stations except for me and Minerva.” The butler clapped his hands to signal everyone to get back to their respective tasks. Except for the old lady, who checked on her earlier today. ‘Ah, so her name’s Minerva’ Diane thought and she looked at the brunette and warm lady. “Minerva, you mentioned Lady Crescella said she has lost her memories. To what extent has she lost her memories?” The butler turned to Minerva. “I haven’t asked Lady Crescella to what extent has she lost her memories.” Minerva looked apologetically to the stern-looking butler. “Lady Crescella, to what exte---“ “Everything” Diane didn’t even wait for the question to finish. “Everything…?” The stern-looking butler now looked troubled and confused. “Yes. Everything” Diane answered with conviction. ‘Can’t go wrong with that answer’ Diane looked back at her reflection on the window. How is she going to get used to being called Lady Crescella? Or this silky hazel hair with beautiful waves that covers her whole back. How can someone have such perfect hair? Let’s not forget her emerald green eyes that literally glisten. ‘This Crescella, she’s pretty af’
