Chapter 1 : The Billionaire’s 24hrs Bride
Chapter 1
Eliana’s hands shook as she clutched the hospital bill, her eyes blurring with tears she refused to let fall. The paper felt heavier than any stone, every number on it a reminder of how badly her mother needed her. She sank onto the couch, trying to breathe through the tightness in her chest, her fingers gripping the edges until they turned white. Each cough echoing from her mother in the hospital replayed in her mind, a harsh reminder that time was slipping through her fingers like sand.
Her phone vibrated on the table, but she ignored it. There was no answer to prayers, no quick solution just bills, debts, and the growing fear of failure. She closed her eyes for a moment, willing herself to be brave, to think clearly. But her resolve crumbled as a loud crash shattered the fragile silence.
The front door slammed open, and three men stormed into the living room, their shadows swallowing the small space. Eliana’s heart lurched violently, her breath hitching in her throat. She stumbled to her feet, but before she could even steady herself, rough hands shoved her back against the wall. Her robe tore at the seam, sliding dangerously off her shoulder, and a sharp cold from the broken fabric sent a shiver down her spine.
“You know the rules,” the tallest sneered, voice low and cruel. “Your debt’s due. If you cannot pay…” His grin widened, teeth flashing in the dim light. “we will take something else.”
“No! Please I’ll get the money! Just give me time,” Eliana cried, her voice trembling, desperation clawing at her throat. Her mind raced, thinking of every plan she could make, every contact she could call but it was too late. Panic settled like a heavy stone in her stomach.
Another man stepped closer, his gaze crawling over her like a predator assessing its prey. “Money’s boring. Your body… That is far more fun.”
Her stomach plummeted. No… Not like this. Not now. Not after everything she had endured. My first… My virginity… Is this really how it ends? The thought made her chest tighten, and her knees threatened to buckle.
Before she could even react, two of them grabbed her arms, wrenching them behind her back and tying them tightly. She thrashed, kicking, twisting, but their laughter only grew, cruel and triumphant. They circled her like wolves, tearing at the last threads of her pride, and every second felt like an eternity.
“Hold her down,” the boss ordered, his voice thick with cruelty. “Spread her for me. I will enjoy every second.”
Eliana’s panic reached a fever pitch. Her breaths came in short, frantic gasps. Somebody anybody please… Not like this… Not when i have kept myself for so long. Is this really how i will lose everything? The world narrowed to the cruel gleam in their eyes, their hands, and the impossibility of escape. Her mind screamed at her to fight, to scream, to call for help but no help was coming. Not yet.
Then sudden. The roar of a car engine outside. The sound cut through her terror like a knife. Heavy footsteps followed, each one measured and purposeful.
“Step away from her.”
The voice was deep, sharp as steel, carrying a weight that made the men hesitate, uncertain.
The room froze. The men’s bravado crumbled instantly. “Adrian Knight?” One stammered, paling.
Eliana’s blood ran cold. Relief hit her first, a spark of hope in the pit of her fear but it was immediately drowned by dread. Adrian Knight. The ruthless billionaire her father had fought over this very house. The man whispered about in fear. And now… He was here.
He did not hesitate. He moved with precision, every motion calculated, every punch deliberate. Fists struck like lightning; one man went down, another stumbled back, and the third scrambled for the door. Within moments, the room fell silent except for Eliana’s ragged, uneven breaths. She clung to the wall, shivering, unable to process the storm that had just swept through her living room.
Adrian knelt before her, undoing the ropes with controlled, confident movements. His coat slid from his broad shoulders and landed over her trembling frame, shielding her torn robe. He brushed a strand of hair from her face, his touch gentle almost intimate for a man so feared. Every nerve in her body ignited at his closeness.
Eliana flinched, pride flaring despite her fear. “You should not have come,” she whispered bitterly, voice shaking. “You should have left me to them. What difference does it make?”
Adrian’s lips curved into something dark, dangerous. “Oh? I should have left them?” His piercing gaze dropped deliberately, scanning her face. “Left them to steal your first time like animals?”
Her breath hitched, shame and fury warring inside her, twisting her stomach in knots. She wanted to deny, to argue, but the intensity in her eyes made her falter.
He leaned closer, his voice low, teasing yet magnetic. “that is what you had prefer? Three filthy strangers ruining you, instead of me standing here?” His eyes glinted with an unreadable emotion. “At least I know the value of what they almost took.”
Eliana’s chest rose and fell rapidly, anger burning through the fear, pride struggling against adrenaline. “Why are you even here, Adrian? Why now?”
He studied her, jaw tight, presence overwhelming, like a force she could not resist. “Because this house was mine before your father stole it. And because I do not let what belongs to me slip away. Not anymore.”
Her pulse stumbled. His nearness, his words, the heat in his eyes it was all too much. Her knees threatened to buckle, yet she stood, trembling, unwilling to give him the satisfaction of seeing her fear fully.
Adrian’s fingers lingered briefly against her wrist before pulling back, his tone sharpening. “you are safe for now. But nothing in life comes free, Eliana. You have twenty-four hours. Marry me… or face this world alone.
Her heart thundered. Marry him? The man who terrified her? The man whose touch made her shiver in ways she did not understand? She felt torn, trapped between relief, fear, and an unfamiliar stirring she could not name.
He tilted his head, watching her with ruthless calm. “The clock is ticking, Eliana. And I do not wait.”
Outside, the city slept. Inside, her world had shifted irreversibly, forever. Every heartbeat, every shiver, every stolen glance at the man kneeling before her told her life would never be the same.
