Chapter Three: Goodnight

Elijah's POV:
"Boss, We have a problem"
Tyler seemed nervous to tell me, which was unusual to say the least.
"Spit it out Tyler"
"The wolves on patrol just linked me an image of a rogue wolf who seemed to have followed us here, and the wolf who saw him swore he looked just like Deans wolf sir..."
"Show me" I said through gritted teeth.
Tyler then linked me in and I couldn't believe what I saw. Dean in his wolf form, but he looked beat up with patchy fur but no doubt it was him, and he looked furious.
I sighed and hung my head. "Don't let this get back to my family. We will tell them when we know more or know what his intentions are"
This wasn't the first time Dean has "Checked in" but he's never shown his face away from home. We have gone to countless meetings with neighboring packs and he's never followed. So what makes tonight so different? He's always been smart and calculated so I know this wasn't an accidental slip up.
"Yes Elijah, I'll see to it myself but before I head out you good man?"
"Do me another favor, Put yourself and another on Maddy's heels. I don't want to take any chances of her hearing about my family's history or have a rogue sneak up on her"
"Consider it done boss"
My eyes found Maddy in the crowd, she was still talking with her friend and also her brother, something must of happened as they were holding hands now. I didn't realize they were an item. Mental note to ask Maddy about it later, but right now I needed to be near her. I wasn't going to let anyone jeopardize my mates happiness or safety.
We may have to leave earlier than I thought so I could control the security around us and were more familiar with the lay of the land. Before I could take a step to her she had already turned to come back to me. She looked a little confused mixed with happiness. I wonder what they talked about.
Jacobs POV:
Heading back into the crowd with my parents, Orion started acting kinda weird, like pacing and almost scratching at the inside of my head I looked over to ask Charlie if her wolf ever acts this way seeing as how she had been 18 a little bit longer than I have, but as I looked up at her to ask she was already looking at me with a calm expression, It was like I was seeing her for the first time, the same long gorgeous blonde hair, But I swear it almost glowed in the moon light now. Same slim figure but I now she seemed to be the most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on, and her blue eyes now had this sparkle to them.
"Mate" I said without realizing, which my parents must of heard causing them to turn back to us
Charlie let out a small smile and repeated me "Mate".
I couldn't help myself, I instantly closed the gap between us and kissed her. I felt like I was going to explode if I didn't. The sparks that I felt when our lips met were the most intense thing I've ever experienced. I have waited my whole life for my mate when really she was right here under my nose all along. We have so much time to catch up on.
"Both of our babies found their mate tonight" My moms voice caused us to separate, both blushing, I can't believe I just started kissing my mate in front of my parents. What's wrong with me?
"Its okay son" My dad must of read my facial expression. "Young ones who find their mates have a hard time keeping their hands off each other for the first days, Just wait until after the party to lay your claim will ya?" My dad said with a wink
Even more embarrassed, I took Charlie's hand and excused us so we could go off and talk. I can't believe she's my mate. My sisters best friend. Oh man, Maddy's best friend. I hope she wont be too pissed..
Maddy's POV:
Walking away from Elijah I felt uneasy by it. I wanted nothing more than to go snuggle up on his lap and breathe in his scent but I can't seem like some love struck pup.
No, I'm my own person and will remain that way. I won't give in to my wolfy urges. Gahhh I need to find Charlie and talk it out with someone sane, she hasn't found her mate yet so she won't fully understand what I'm going through but maybe she can help me find a way to just keep Elijah at arms length until we really get to know each other.
I finally found Charlie and Jacob over in a corner talking and laughing which was weird, Jacob never really seemed to notice any female let alone any of my friends, I bet they are talking about what just happened with me and Elijah and that's what's so funny. As I got closer I noticed they were holding hands. What the hell is going on? I thought. As I walked up to them Jacob got wide eyed and almost hid behind a very smiley looking Charlie, she was almost buzzing with excitement as she tried explaining what just went down with her and my brother. I stood there in silence. Well so much for talking to a sane person I thought. I looked up now to see Charlie looking a little nervous and Jacob still avoiding eye contact.
"I'm sorry, Mads, don't be mad at us, we cant help it"
"Yeah sweetie, I'm sorry I didn't think about how you would react, I probably could of eased you into it a bit better but I was just so excited--"
"You guys think I'm upset?" I asked kinda tilting my head
"Well honestly we don't know, you are being kinda quiet" Charlie was fiddling with her fingers, I grabbed her hands and took a breath.
"I'm so happy that my brother found someone as great as you for his mate. My best friend will now be Luna of my old pack alongside my brother. No one could of wished for a better outcome Charlie" I then gave her the biggest hug I could. I honestly was super happy for them and now me and Charlie could go through a quick "How to be a Luna" rundown with my mom together this week.
"No we really will be sisters" I said with a laugh.
My brother finally came out from behind Charlie and I had to give him a quick punch in the shoulder "If you hurt her I will come back here to kick your ass you know"
He smiled at me and then looked over at Charlie in the most lovingly way possible " I wouldn't dream of it mads, She's my world now"
I couldn't believe everything that has happened tonight, Charlie and Jacob were already so wrapped up in each other and it was only night one. I looked back over at Elijah and as if he could sense it he met my eyes. He smiled and I instantly felt warm and content, Almost forgetting all the stress of the night.
I hugged the new couple one last time before heading back over to my own mate, I needed some time alone to wrap my head around the evening and plan for the week ahead. I was going to have to call it a night, excuse myself or slip away.
I made it back to Elijah who just lifted an eyebrow at me, I must of had a odd expression on my face
"What's that look for? I asked
"Well, my dear, you look puzzled, I guess would be the best word for it"
"I do? Hmm. I just have a lot on my mind. "Please do tell" He gestured with his hand for me to continue
" Me and you and now Charlie and Jacob just found out they were mates so that's kinda shocking but I'm happy for them. They both will do great things for the pack. "Oh I see, Well they seem very happy together" he added with a nod "I think at this point I'm just exhausted" I said with a light laugh. "so much has happened tonight and I just need to go lay down and process it all. So yeah, bedtime for me"
I started to wave him off but he caught my hand in his and said
"Okay my love, lead the way."
