Chapter 26 “What was Cleopatra getting at?” Ben asked as they skipped down a seemingly endless flight of stairs. They now seemed to be a safe distance from the golden pyramid. Maya looked flustered, even more so than when she fell into the boy’s arms like a helpless rag doll. “I believe her point was that your heart is in the right place.” “Uh-huh.” Ben still didn’t quite understand. “She must have got bored while you were wandering around lost in the labyrinth. She came and chatted with me for a bit. She said the purpose of the labyrinth was to get you to face up to your own fears, to force you to prove you’re not the selfish brat you used to be. I couldn’t really see what was going on behind the tall, thick hedges. Were there snakes? Lions?” Ben shook his head. “Nothing like that.”
