Chapter 25
Ben and Maya traipsed slowly up the stairs. They had already been wandering for an hour, with only the twinkling of stars in the sky to light their way. They seemed trapped in an endless labyrinth: any path they took split off in every possible direction, leading to floating gates of various sizes, behind which stood a vast array of strange buildings.
They paused at yet another baffling junction.
“Which way now?” asked Maya.
“A right turn has to be the right choice,” Ben joked, but they both agreed. The stairs led up to an imposing Egyptian pyramid that towered over them as they approached.
