Chapter 24
Ben and Maya found themselves in front of a Greek temple. Ionic columns, slender and white, supported the weight of the roof structure, and a long narrow staircase led up to the entrance. This path to the temple door was floating in the sky, as was the entire building itself. Beneath it, all was lost in the blueish radiance, with various points of light visible in the distance, twinkling like stars in the clear, night-time sky and interlinked with gossamer-like golden threads.
Looking up, they saw the translucent bodies of spirits floating around them in many different types of dress. Some wore Viking helmets, others royal crowns. There were scholars, soldiers, men, women, children, and even animals from various ages of history, and all of them radiated a greyish-blue light.
