Angelica's P.O.V.
The maids took my luggage upstairs, and I followed behind them. The whole house was interestingly decorated, with various fancy-looking artifacts to furniture that looked highly extravagant to Luna’s taste. Seems like nothing has changed since my last visit, which was 3-4 years ago.
It’s going to be tough to get accustomed to living here, surely. I feel like a pauper here, which I actually am. I was never allowed to go up the stairs because their room was here. And yet, I did sneak in once, which I regret to this day.
“This is going to be your room,” addressed the maid with a bitter expression, showing me the door. “The young Masters also live on this floor, so please get along.”
“Uh….okay…”
In the same floor? Then, I’ll get to see them every day, all the time. Is that good for me? I don’t think so. I can’t believe I have to live here, under the same roof as them. It’s a nightmare.
She opened the door for me, and I went inside. A sweet smell lingered around the moment I entered. I couldn’t describe where it came from, but it was all over the room.
“Please check if everything is up to your taste, if not, we’ll change it right away,” said the other maid accompanying me.
“Uh…hm…” I nodded in response, “Thank you.”
“No need to thank us. It’s just our job. I’ll arrange your clothes in the wardrobe then,” she said, opening up the zipper of my suitcase.
“No need to, I can do it myself,” I interrupted.
She looked at me strangely. “But, it’s our job. Are you sure?”
“Uh, hm….yes. I can do it. You two can leave.”
Both maids glanced at each other, then she retreated her hands from my luggage.
“As you wish, we are leaving for now. If you need anything, call us. And dinner time is at 8 p.m. Please head to the table by then.”
“Uh…okay….”
The room fell silent when they left. I looked around and noticed, everything looked too bland and dull. It’s a neatly arranged but lacks life, missing some vibrant colors.
I guess royal people hate colors? Who knows?
But this big room feels so lonely and cold for me alone. Can I bear to live here?
I opened up my suitcase to arrange my things. The wardrobe was already arranged with some clothes for me. Will they fit? They haven’t seen me in forever.
Though I do appreciate it.
I grabbed the photo frame from my suitcase and put it on my study table. It was a picture of me and Uncle together.
The only memory I could bring with me.
“This seems to be my new home for now. And it’s also the place where you used to live. So, I hope I won’t feel alone here. No matter where you are, keep watching over me,” I murmured.
Suddenly, I noticed the big window in the room. I walked over to the side of the window and looked outside. Fresh breeze swept past me, and I spotted a big tree right in front of me. And the branches had extended quite close to my window.
It’s quite possible to use this to get down without using the door. But who would even do that? It’s not like we are kids anymore, are we?
I stood there in silence for a few minutes, enjoying the view. It’s so quiet in this part of the house. I love it. I don’t want anybody to pay any special attention to me. Just leave me alone, and I’ll be fine. That’s all I want.
Is that too much to ask?
“Hnngh….” The sound of someone groaning drew my attention. I turned around to see someone sitting on the floor, resting his back against one side of my bed.
“Who’s-” my voice got caught in my throat when I zoomed in on his face closely.
Tousled golden curls fell over his forehead, which was a bit messy. With a sculptured jaw and soft cheeks, and a lip too tempting, the reincarnation of the devil in the face of an angel.
Memories from years ago flooded in, seeing the familiar face. It was none other than the prankster Benjamin, who loved pulling pranks on me and seeing me cry.
Though he looks a bit grown up now, and big and tall as well. If not for his face, I wouldn’t recognize him.
But why’s he in my room? He didn’t mistake it for his room, right? Then, he wouldn’t be sleeping on the floor. I’m such a fool.
This must be one of his plans to bother me. I know it.
I won’t let him do as he likes. I need to stand my ground so he can’t take advantage of me.
I cleared my throat and mustered up my courage. “Benjamin, wake up!” I yelled, which only sounded like a whisper.
Come on, there’s no way he can hear me like this. You can do better, Angelica.
“Benjamin, wake up!” I raised my voice firmly.
But, he didn’t move a budge. He was groaning even more loudly now. Beads of sweat had formed over his forehead.
He seemed to be having a nightmare of some sort.
What on earth is he dreaming about?
I kneeled down on the ground close to him, feeling hesitant to reach out.
Well, what can go worse than this? I can’t sit still.
I reached out with my trembling hands and shook him by the shoulders. I could feel his toned body through the fabric. Must be the first time I’m touching him willingly.
“Benjamin, wake up!” I called, “Benjamin!”
“Can you hear me? Benjamin?” I shook him a bit more violently.
Then suddenly, he propped open his eyes. And looked at me strangely.
“Are you alr-”
He reached out his hand and gently caressed one side of my face.
Then whispered in a seductive tone, “Aren’t you some cute looking ghost? What’s your name?”
Suddenly, the sweet aroma I was looking for when I entered the room hit my nostrils. And it was coming from him.
“It’s Angelica,” I replied, pushing his hand away, “And I’m not a ghost.”
Why does he smell so good? I’m supposed to hate this guy.
“Angelica? You mean that tiny, shorty Angelica with a skeleton body?” he repeated, with an excitement in his tone.
“Yes, that Angelica,” I replied, getting back onto my feet, “Now, tell me why were you sleeping here? Let me guess, to bully me of course?”
His eyes lit up, and the corner of his lips curled upwards into a sly grin, hearing my question.
“Well…” he stretched his limbs and got up from the ground. “It may or may not be true.”
“What does that mean?” I retorted.
“Hahaha, you sound so serious,” he snickered, walking towards me. I backed away from him and ended up with my back pressed against the window frame.
When I tried to escape, he grabbed onto my hand, keeping me in place. His grip was strong enough to leave a mark on me.
“I wanted to give you a warm welcome by surprising you. That’s why I was waiting in the room for you to arrive,” he replied, standing right in front of me, eye to eye, “But before I realized, I dozed off, it seems."
"You don't mind that, do you?"
