Chapter 14 Kneel to my ass!

1353 Words
Space twisted and deformed as if it had been put into a giant washing machine, with invisible hands wildly manipulating something. But such distortion was just an illusion; Adam's eyes remained closed, his legs firmly planted on the ground, rooted like a tree! There was no swaying at all. Finally, everything calmed down, but the scene before him had changed. In the center of the square, a melon-sized fleshy tumor floated quietly in the air, supported by something like blood vessels. Beside the tumor was a person in a red robe, with several people in black robes surrounding it, all muttering incantations. On the ground lay two pale children, a boy and a girl. The moment the barrier was broken, all the people in black robes reacted, looking in unison towards a spot. Adam was standing right there. Without any hesitation, a blood-red glow flashed in the hands of all the people in black robes, and dozens of arrows with crimson tails covered all the vital spots around Adam. Adam, who had just entered this space, didn't even open his eyes, but he tilted his head just in time, twisting his body into an unusually strange angle, and all the arrows brushed past his body without causing any harm. Boom! A huge roar, and the blood-red arrows exploded on the floor behind him, forming a large pit. The edge of the pit was still sizzling, and the blood-colored light began to corrode the ground. Slowly opening his eyes, Adam pressed his temples, suppressing the turmoil in his ears from Hearing of Everything. Looking up, apart from those oddly dressed people, he immediately saw the two children lying on the ground. The boy and girl, their fingernails all pried open, each connected to a thin blood vessel leading to the pulsating, breathing tumor. On their young faces, traces of fear and pain from moments ago remained, but now they were unconscious, pale and wan. "Damn it, I've finally found you! What is the meaning of this? Some kind of cult ritual?" Adam's expression was slightly ferocious at the moment, as the prolonged use of Hearing of Everything had brought him immense mental torture, leaving him in a very bad mood, with an urge to hit someone. Plus, seeing everything before him, he didn't have time to feel any fear, as if adrenaline was surging before a fight, with a rush of blood to the head, he just wanted to go up and punch these people. Now, the group of people in black robes, seeing that only Adam was there, also let out a slight sigh of relief. One of them, with a red glow in his eyes, seemed to have a superpower related to vision, and he looked up and down at Adam. Then, he saw the SID card on the chest of Adam's combat uniform, and he was stunned. "Are you serious? Superhuman level: None, superpower rating: E?" After saying this, he laughed darkly as if he had seen some kind of joke. Hearing his words, all the people in black robes relaxed and then all made that villainous signature "cackle" laugh. "Are there no more people on your side? Even you, a rookie, are sent out?" "Do you know what the consequences of playing the hero are?" For a moment, all the people in black robes selectively forgot that Adam had just easily dodged their fatal blow, attributing it to luck. What's more, someone even took a step forward and said to Adam seriously: "You're an E-rated, what are you playing at with your life? Why not just join us and work together!" "Join? Join what? Who are you?" As Adam spoke, he exhaled a long breath, the cold air condensing into frost, and then formed a long ice staff in front of him. The person in black robes raised his hands devoutly, fanatically looking at the tumor behind him. "Join us, serve the Lord, as long as you are willing to kneel and offer your loyalty to Him, He can give you..." However, before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by a great force, the frost staff thrown by Adam hitting his chest. His chest bone collapsed instantly, a mouthful of blood was violently vomited, and the whole person flew backward for dozens of meters, hitting a treadmill. Adam roared: "Kneel to my ass! Because of you sons of bitches, I was forced to go AFK in my online game, and as a result, my points dropped, and my account was banned. I came out in the middle of the night to listen to a bunch of maniacs screaming in my ear! Go to hell!" With the throw of his newly formed ice staff, Adam immediately charged forward. Strike first to gain the upper hand—his brief chat with the enemy was merely to observe their positioning. He took a swift step forward and, before his opponents could fully react, he had arrived, gripping the ice staff tightly once more, and with a s***h, he slammed it into another figure in black. Adam hadn't learned any combat techniques; this strike was purely brute force, but it proved incredibly effective. The moment the enemy's head made contact with the staff, a chill surged upward, freezing their skull into an ice sphere that emitted a crisp, explosive sound, followed by a burst like a shattered ice melon! This was Adam's first kill. Adam's eyes were cold, his mind devoid of any secondary thoughts—his ruthlessness was palpable. In truth, he hadn't initially been so resolute; this state of mind was actually something he had to "thank" the Acolytes for. When Adam first found this place, his mind had been in chaos, and he was at his most drowsy and weakest. It was then that dozens of the enemy's blood-red arrows, without giving him a moment to catch his breath, had sealed off all his escape routes. In that instant, his Hearing of Everything had reached an extreme level, as if the entire world was screaming in his ears: Beware! Then, it felt as if his subconscious was controlling his body, twisting and turning in response to the warnings from his surroundings. By the time his mind fully registered what was happening, those arrows had already exploded behind him. Sweating profusely, he instantly calmed down, his thoughts clearing. He realized he had danced with death and understood that the battle before him was a fight to the death! This was different from his previous sparring with Serena; these people were cold-blooded killers. So now he held nothing back, disregarding any potential legal repercussions—his safety was paramount. Thus, with no further reservations, he, a novice who had never seriously fought anyone, instantly took down two Acolytes. Of course, the enemy wasn't to be underestimated. Upon regaining their senses, the remaining dozen figures swiftly encircled him, their bodies glowing with a crimson energy, preparing to attack Adam collectively. There is great fear in the face of life and death! It is the ultimate way to test and train a person. As a freshman who hadn't even begun his training, Adam had no simulations to speak of; he was thrust directly into a battle for survival. This greatly unleashed his potential and showcased his innate combat abilities. These experiences were more valuable than a month of training in a university facility! For instance, in the current moment, without any prior instruction or conscious thought, his instincts drove him to take the most advantageous action for himself. Ignoring the attacks around him, he enveloped himself in an icy blue glow, crafting a rudimentary but incredibly thick ice armor. With both hands gripping his staff, he thrust it forcefully towards the tumor! When you're at a disadvantage or surrounded, strike at what your enemy must protect! Though he didn't know who they were, it seemed like some sort of cult ritual, and the enemy appeared to value this tumor-like object highly. Sure enough, his move directly relieved his predicament, as all enemy attacks shifted towards him, accompanied by a chorus of shouts and exclamations.
