Back in the bedroom, Shay looked at Melissa. “Did I really do it?”
Melissa nodded. “You did. How do you feel?”
“I don’t know. Relieved, I guess. I’m not sure where I stand with the family now that I’ve told them. It’s kind of like admitting you smoke when you’re a teenager. Are you now allowed to smoke in front of your parents at home or not?”
“The important thing is you came out to them. They’ll need time to adjust. So will you. So, now you’ve taken that step, what about Dwayne?”
