Maya I gasped, my eyes flying open as consciousness slammed into me like a train. The room spun, dark tendrils of magic still clinging to the edges of my vision. "What the hell?" I muttered, pushing myself up on shaky arms. The last thing I remembered was... what? Hilda's face, twisted with malice? Allan's voice, calling out to me? It was all a blur. I glanced around, taking in the opulent bedroom. Silk sheets, gilded furniture, a view of sprawling gardens through floor-to-ceiling windows. A gilded cage, but a cage nonetheless.
