Chapter 13: Keeping an eye on her

Nathaniel's Point of View:

I know, it was mean of me to lock her up for 2 weeks and leave her to worry about Nate being upset on her for not showing up after she met with ' the beast', but I did it because she would have been grounded and left in her room by her father anyways for not standing with me. I just added a week to the time she would have had to stay so I could do my work and have more time for her later. I also made sure that she won't get bored by her old ways of training and I sent her one of my warriors. Well, not quite a warrior, but she is the wife of one of my finest men.

Eva is Kevin's wife and fated mate. She is also training to be one of the warriors, but she's just an average werewolf while her mate is a lycan. It's nothing personal, but we just can't compare the strength and ability of a werewolf with the one of a lycan, it's just impossible. She has a bulky figure and the look of a true warrior, she's a tough woman, on the inside and out. I've never heard her complain or see her cry. That's exactly why I sent her. Maybe she could approach Elise and talk some senses into her ... after she kicks her b*tt for her cold behavior.

I've asked of her to send me a report with Elise's progress for the week and guess what report I get first. Elise did a sloppy job and wanted to s*ab her so her father sent her back to her room. Amazing news, I have a mate with anger issues. I guess it's Nate's job to calm her down.

Those 2 weeks passed so slow that I felt like I've been waiting for ages. The only good thing that happened in those 2 weeks is that Arnar did not visit me and no other noble dared to bother me right now. Today is the day that I get my grumpy face on and ...

' Get your grumpy face on? I thought this is your grumpy face ...", mocked Clyde.

' Don't you have some work to do?', I scoffed and he snickered. 

I've been waiting for her at our spot and see if she'll make it today. And just as expected, there she was, this time coming on foot. I wonder why she left her horse back at the castle. 

She breathed heavily and I think that she have been running for quite some time. She stumbled when she reached me and I caught her by the hips, helping her stand and she looked worried into my eyes, caressing my face and checking me.

-" Thanks God you are alright!", and hugged me tightly

-" Why wouldn't I? Because you left me alone yesterday?", I pushed it and she tightened her grip on me even more, burring her face into my chest like she's afraid I would leave her. 

-" It's not like that, I promise!", she tried to convince me.

-" But how is it Elise? I've waited for you all day!", I lied to make her feel guilty.

-" That beast told my father to keep me inside the castle, I wanted to be with you so bad, but I had 5 guards around me all the time. That beast even sent me a she-wolf to train me and I couldn't outrun her, I tried.", she said with pleading eyes.

-" It doesn't mean I can't be mad at you ... I thought you left me.", I said in a sad voice, holding her hands and she gave me a weak smile and pushed her head back into my chest like a cub.

-" I will never leave you."

-" No matter what?", I asked, massaging her back.

-" Well ... as long as you won't cheat on me. ", she giggled, rubbing her forehead against my chest.

-" Don't you worry about it.", I assured her, kissing her head. She backed away abruptly and looked anxious.

-" What about our escape plan? How will we get away from here?"

-" It's alright, calm down. I will find someone else to take us there, just don't be sad. We still have time, that beast won't do anything to you for now, you don't have the age to go with him.", I said, cupping her face and she looked at me with her big doe eyes like a little baby.

She was very anxious that someone might have followed her to find us because ' the beast' knows about me and she told her knight that she knows I'm alive and they would probably follow her to find me. I checked our surroundings twice before to get on my improvised bed next to her so she will be assured that we are fine.

We held each other like that for a few hours as she took a nap in my arms. She confessed me that she keeps having nightmares and can't sleep at night so she was exhausted from all those sleepless nights and I let her sleep on top of me.

I watched her sleep peacefully until she started to wriggle in my arms and mumbled something. I thought that is cute at first, but then she began to whimper like she's having a really bad dream and I rubbed her back and hold her tightly and gave her light kisses, trying to comfort her, but if this won't calm her down, I will have to wake her up eventually.

She continued to whimper for another minute, but then stopped and held on to my blouse like she's trying to find comfort in me. I rocked her in my arms like a little baby and she seemed to sleep peacefully so I continued until I fell asleep as well. 

When I woke up, she was still sleeping on my chest and I couldn't move 'cause I was worried that I will wake her up. She acts like a baby even when she's asleep, but at least she can't get mad at me in her sleep. And just then, she turned around, falling off of me. 

She got up rapidly and looked around to see what had happened and I couldn't help but to giggle at seeing her frowning face. She couldn't even keep her eyes fully open. I patted her shoulder lightly and she turned to face me and got back down next to me, throwing herself on top of me."

-" What happened sweet heart?", I asked her in a husky voice, making her wriggle on me and mumble something in return. " Did you sleep well?"

-" I wish I could sleep in your arms every single night.", she confessed in a sleepy voice that I find extremely cute.

-" You will. Soon enough.", I answered, looking up at the sky, thinking about what will happen when she will find out the truth about Nate.

-" Promise?", she asked, looking into my eyes with a puppy face on.

-" I promise." Only if she would know how strong my promise is. 

We kept cuddling and playing on the ground until it was dark outside. I asked her to go back to the castle so she won't have any more problems with her parents because of her sneaking out, but she refused adamantly every time I tried to convince her to go.

-" I'm afraid that I won't be able to sneak out again after today ... I don't want to see you again after 2 weeks, I want to see you everyday. Don't make me leave you again, please!", she pleaded me, clinging her hands around my neck.

-" But what about your parents?", I tried to make her resonate and understand that she can't stay.

-" Why do you always want me to leave? All I want is to be here with you and my parents will never understand me. I don't care about that beast and his power. I want love ... not money and power.", she said and despite that mean affirmation she made about ' not caring about the beast', it was still wholesome to hear how attached she is to me and chooses me over everyone and everything else. Maybe she would even accept me as her mate quicker than I thought.

She kept staring at my lips and I couldn't help but to stare back at hers. I fought back the urge to kiss her ardently, until she's gonna lose her breath, as long as I could. I didn't wanted to kiss her until her 17 birthday that's gonna be soon enough, but she began to caress my cheeks tenderly with her thumbs and leaned on closer to my face, closing her eyes. She placed her forehead on mine for a few seconds, looking into my eyes and then closed them again, moving towards my lips and I didn't stopped her, I couldn't. I kissed her back, pressing my lips against hers and kissed her like I won't be able to breath if she would pull away. Her lips feels like soft petals that could tear apart if I would be rough with her, and I licked 'em to tell her to open her mouth and she subconsciously did as I wanted.

This was her first kiss and she didn't know what to do exactly, but she tried to follow my moves. I slipped my tongue inside her mouth and tasted her, wondering my tongue around and against hers and fighting for dominance. I won pretty quickly as she has no idea how she should move her tongue around. I made sure that her first kiss is gonna be memorable for the both of us and make her enjoy it just as much as I do. Not only her behavior is sweet when she's with me, but she also tastes sweet, like vanilla. When I pulled back, she averted her eyes from mines and smiled shyly to the ground, licking her lips.

I lifted her chin up, f*rcing her to look up at me. She was fidgeting in her palms and looked nervous from the lustful gaze I had on her. I gave her a light kiss on the lips and rubbed my nose against hers.

-" I thought you said we will kiss after the wedding.", she smiled shyly at me, holding on to my blouse.

-" I've changed my mind.", I said, taking her up in my arms with her legs parted on each side of my hips and taking her with me to the river to cool down.

She avoided my gaze all the way there and said nothing about the kiss anymore. I wanted to throw her into the river along with me, but she started panicking and screaming.

-" No, no, no! Wait! I don't know how to swim!", she yelled hysterically at me, holding on tighter to me.

-" Alright, it's alright, I won't throw you!", I assured her and she stopped screaming, calming down a little, loosening her grip on me. I can sense that she's terrified by water, but I wonder what happened to trigger this fear in her. She should have learned to swim years ago.

I needed to take a cold bath so I put Elise down for a moment and asked her to wait here for me. She sat down on the edge of the river's shore and I took off my blouse while going into the water. I could feel her gaze on my back as I was going further into the river, but I did not turn back to look at her. I knew that if I did that, she would avert her eyes from me so I decided to let her eyes room all over my body while I poured water on me.

I got out of the river and she rose up from the ground, locking her hands around my hips and pulled me in for a kiss. Does she even know what effect she has on me? My plan was not to get hot again after getting out of the river. That was the whole point in getting there in the first place. 

She looked up at me and then back down to my chest. I took her hands and left her to wonder her hands around my body. Most probably she have never seen a man bare chest until now and she was very curious to touch me.

-" Tonight we will sleep together, but tomorrow you have to go back. I promise that I will wait for you, no matter how long it takes you to sneak out again. I will be here.", I tried to convince her. Maybe this time will work.

-" Alright ... but you will be here, waiting for me?", she stopped roaming her hands on my body and hugged me tho I was wet.

-" I will always be here waiting for you."

We got back to our spot and laid down, holding her and she caressed my back until she fell asleep.

In the morning, I was the first one to wake up, just as always, and she was not on top of me this time so I managed to get up without waking her up. I wondered thru the forest to get some fruits for her and washed 'em into the river. On my way back I caught a rabbit and fried it before she woke up.

We ate in silence, with her straddling me 'cause she just doesn't want to eat unless I'm holding her close to me. When we finished, I decided it was time for her to go back, but first I needed to assure her that I'm gonna be waiting for her. She accepted and told me that she trusts me. 

I accompanied her back to the castle and then ran back into the woods to change. I had to make sure that she won't be punished for being away for the night so I put on my mask and paid King William a visit.

When I arrived to the gates, the guards were reluctant to open and let me in at first, but I let out a growl and they recognized it was me as they have heard me angry before and hurried to open the gates. I was led to the throne hall by their butler and waited for William to arrive.

-" King Nathaniel! We were not expecting a visit so soon.", he greeted me with an nervous smile.

-" I know Elise was not within the castle walls last night. I just want to make sure that nobody gives my mate any punishment without my approval.", I replied coldly and she just happened to pop up at the door in a purple gown that did not reveal anything. 

She waited by the door, not saying anything and I left Clyde to do the talking.

-" Come here, lady Elise. Don't be shy.", he roared at her, still mad for that statement she made yesterday. She looked in the ground, playing with the material of her gown. " Are you expecting to be punished?", she realized that I knew everything and looked up at me to see if I'm gonna tell her father about what had happened last night or not.

-" Why should I?", she tried to compose herself and act innocent.

-" You have been away my dear. If you wanted so bad to go out, you could have just asked me to accompany you." Why does she always have to roll her eyes at me? " But don't worry, I'm going to forgive you, just this once.", and her father snapped his neck at me and widened his eyes like he would want to see if it was really me that have just said that.

-" She have been gone for the whole night and you are going to forgive her?", he asked incredulous.

-" She have not been engaged in anything bad and there is no trace of  another's male scent on her. I can forgive her just this time. But I won't be so merciful the next time she leaves without my knowledge.", and now they both looked surprised at me.

 After I was done talking to her father, I asked her to come with me for a second 'cause I have something to talk to her and she obliged.

-"Don't you dare even think that you won't be punished! I know exactly what you did last night and that won't be forgiven. I will keep my promise with the w*ipping and the part where you accept me and forget about everyone else, just you wait to be send to me!", I whisper- yelled at her and she looked down immediately. 

I stormed out of the castle and got back to my kingdom where I had a visit from Arnar. I had another 2 weeks until I will see her again as we talked that it would be better for her to don't sneak out so often.

Arnar knocked on my study room's door and waited for me to answer , but I was not in a rush to do so and I left him to wait for another 3- 4 minutes longer on the hall for my answer. He knocked on my door 2 more times so I left him in so he won't bother me with his knocking on my doors anymore.

-" What pleasure do I owe this visit, Duke Arnar?", I asked, sarcasm evident in my tone.

-" I wanted to congratulate you, your Highness. It is amazing that you were able to find your fated mate!", he sounded genuine, but I could smell all over him that he is nervous to talk to me.

-" Anything else?", I asked bored, playing with my pen.

-" I was just wondering ... how long did your Highness knew about ...", but I cut him off, knowing what he wants to ask.

-" This is none of your business, Duke. I advice you to help your daughter find her mate as well.", I replied coldly, looking pissed in his direction.

-" Of course, your Highness. I'm sorry.", he bowed and made a few steps back.

-" I think it will be better for you to go back to your manor. It's getting dark outside and we wouldn't want anything bad happen to you.", I smirked at him and he nodded his head and I wished him fare well.

Again, I was left alone, thinking about Elise and how sweet she can be when she doesn't think that I'm a King. I know she enjoyed her first kiss just as much as I enjoyed kissing her.

 I've never felt this way before. I can't even describe how good it made me feel. All I hope now is that my previous mistake won't disturb her too much and she could accept me. I know I don't deserve her, but I still hope that she will get over what I've done in the past.
