Boarding
“OVER HERE, GERDA. Thank God you’re here to help. So many people arrived early and they won’t let us board until after eight. People were wandering all over the streets, so I put up signs directing them here. Welcome!”
“Sorry, Helmut. I would have been here earlier, but I needed to prepare my guest for the day. Do you remember Eddie from the park on Saturday?”
“Of course, the hot dog lover!” Eddie’s small grin blossomed into a full-fledged smile as he asked the obvious follow-up question. “You got any ready right now?”
“You ate your breakfast in the apartment this morning and people don’t barbecue at seven thirty in the morning, but they’ll be served later.”
“Promise?”
“Yes, and I’ll also let you try some strudel, which I think is tastier than a hot dog!”
