“REVEREND HAAS, MAY I speak with you when you’re finished offering greetings? I only need a minute.”
“Sure, Helmut, but many people are running late—I’m still waiting for my family. Everyone is coming except for my son, George, who will be missed, but everyone else will be here—my sister, sister-in-law, and nephew, along with my wife, Anna, and my sweet Gertrude. Have you seen any of them?”
“Yes, sir, everyone except for your wife and daughter.”
“All right, I asked the captain to allow more time for people to board, so I do have a few minutes, but please don’t tell me how this is going to be the best day ever or something else along those lines.”
