Jaanvi's POV:
He didn't want to say the truth maybe.. I thought as I stood up and started walking behind him. Time was passing by slowly as we walked deeper into the dense jungle.
" I can't..", I said feeling very tired. First it was thirst and then the heavy saree.
He paused and turned.
" Why?!", he said rigidly.
" I'm thirsty and this saree his so heavy..", I said feeling every muscle of my body ache.
He walked up to me and picked me off the ground.
" What are you doing? You body must be aching..", I said as he replied not looking down at me.
" We can't waste much time.. This jungle is inhabited by wild animals.. They may have a feast on us if we didn't find our way out soon.. And why are you even bothered about me?!", he says the last sentence in a very rude tone.
" What so ever..!", I replied turning towards the road he was walking on. He was really tired.. Did he actually care about me..? I felt confused but I kept quiet.
Just then I spotted something.
" Rudra.. Rudra there's a house!", I said immediately.
" Where?! ", he asked still not putting me down. If he didn't behave that way on our marriage night I would call that gesture romantic.. Never mind..
" Right there across the tree..", I said as he started walking briskly down the path.
We soon reached in front of a huge bungalow which stood admist the trees around it.
He slowly put me down. His hands had turned red due to the great weight he had been bearing all this while.
He is really so complicated!
He immediately ran towards the house and pressed the bell. Nobody answered.
" Maybe no one's there..", I suggested.
He hit the wooden door in anger as it flung open.
He looked from the open door towards me in astonishment.
He walked in.
" Is anyone there? ", he called out but no one answered. He looked at the large clock to see that it was four in the evening.
" Shut the door.", he instructed as I did so. I noticed the light switches and turned them on. The bungalow had a big living room which was furnished lavishly.
He immediately walked towards what seemed like a kitchen. I walked in behind him to find the kitchen well made with vegetables and fruits kept. Everything looked fresh.
He picked up a bottle and started drinking water as if it was the last drop of bottle on planet earth. He picked up another bottle and handed it to me. I drank some water and kept it back.
" Rudra, it seems like somebody definitely lives here.", I said looking around the kitchen.
" You are correct but right now he isn't here. When he'll come we'll ask him to escort us to Raigarh. Now come on, lets go up..", he says as he walked out of the kitchen towards the staircase.
He immediately walked up the stairs as I slowly followed him. He walked into a room and opened the wardrobe to find clothes. Clothes of a man.
" Perfect.", he said with a smile of happiness as he looked into the cupboard. I went and stood beside him.
" But I don't think-", he immediately placed his hand on my lips coming uncomfortably close.
" Now listen.", he said picking up a t - shirt and what looked like cargo pants.
" Go wear this and come.. I know that thing you are wearing us heavy.. Fast.", he said as I stared at him, startled.
He handed me the clothes and turned back to the cupboard.
Was he acting or he did care for me?
Maybe I could find love in the woods I was stuck in.
