Rose's POV...
The woods were dark and scary. I couldn't hear anything but the growling sounds of the monster as it drew even closer to me.
I picked up my steps, running as the fear and uncertainty churned deep within me, with my feet bruised and my breathing heavy. I didn't know where I was running to and I didn't care at all, because all I wanted to do was to get as far away as I could from the monster.
Galloping in fear, luck was not on my side as the monster got to me, tackling me to the ground. The monster had the face of Keith and that made me drown further in an ocean of dismay.
Please let me go...
Please let me go..." I said incessantly as I drifted back to reality by Eve's voice.
''Hey... Hey, you were having that nightmare again," I heard Eve say softly to me as she shocked me slowly back to consciousness.
Blinking off the sleep from my eyes, I realized it was just a dream, the same dream I have been having ever since the incident that led up to all this.
And I wondered to myself if I would ever be free from the clutches of the past.
Looking back up at Eve, I saw her smiling, handing me a glass of water.
''Here, drink this. You will feel a lot better," she said, rubbing circles around my arm.
''Tyler, don't you think it's time to seek help for these nightmares, they have lasted for so long," she said with concern laced in her voice.
Downing the water in the glass, I looked up at her smiling as I turned to drop the glass on the table beside me.
'' I'm fine, trust me I don't need help," I said holding onto her hand.
''But..." she even tried to protest.
Thank you for your concern but I will be fine," I continued to pacify her, but Eve still wasn't convinced.
''But Tyler, it's been 3 months since you moved here and, since then. The nightmares have been a constant occurrence. I'm just worried about it, you know," she said, with a sad look on her face.
Smiling, I looked at her, bringing my hand to her face.
''Thank you for caring and I'm lucky to have you as a friend, but I'm fine," I whispered, pulling her into a tight hug.
I am grateful that I have Eve in my life. She has been the closest thing I had to a family since I moved here, and she made this place feel a little bit like home for me.
It's been 3 months staying with her and I couldn't have asked for a better friend.
Pulling her away from me a bit, I noticed she was beautifully dressed and looking amazing.
''I see you are dressed for work," I smiled as I stared at her from head to toe.
''Yeah, I am, duty calls," she grinned, standing up to her feet as she did a full 360 spin for me.
''You look beautiful," I winked at her, saying.
She smiled back at me with her heels hitting the floor as she jumped in excitement.
''Thank you, kind lady, but I will be on my way now," she said, picking up her keys as she walked over to the door.
''And that reminds me, we are both going to a work event later tonight, so I hope you don't have a waitressing shift tonight," she asked.
'' No, I don't, my shift starts in less than an hour," I replied.
'' So it's settled we are going out tonight, so see you then," she chirped, rushing out of the door immediately.
Shaking my head at the level of her excitement, I slowly made my way to the bathroom, totally eager to have my shower as my head was currently banging from the aftermath of my nightmare.
The cold water was all I needed to feel like myself again, as it helped get rid of any negative thoughts in my head.
Done with my shower, I got ready for work as I had my breakfast and soon enough I was on my way to the restaurant.
I worked as a waitress in a restaurant not too far from Eve's apartment, and I must say I loved working there.
The smell of strong coffee and greasy foods soon became music to my ears.
My shift wasn't too hectic as there weren't so many people during the morning period.
So it ended in no time, and soon I was on my way home, getting back to the apartment with my takeout.
I dusted off my shoes as I fell onto the bed, and put on the TV. My favorite show was on, so I got comfy, eating my food as I watched nonstop, waiting for Eve to get back from work.
I didn't even know when I slept off, but I was woken up by the sound of the door opening.
''Tyler, are you back home," I heard Eve call out to me.
''Yes I'm in here," I yelled back as I soon saw Eve walking into the room.
''Hey, how was work," I asked, still a bit sleepy.
''Stressful as always, but I'm so happy we are going to unwind tonight at that event I told you about," she said, smiling as she pulled off her shoes and jumped into bed with me.
''So I? see takeouts? Where is mine? I really hope you got some for me because I'm starving," Eve grumbled.
Rolling my eyes at her, I went to give her some of the takeouts I left in the fridge.
Seeing her jump at the sight of the food was beyond hilarious.
She soon ate and we talked for a while. Soon enough, it was time for the event.
I have not gone to an event since the last one I went to with Keith.
So going out today really puts me on edge, but I had to do it, if not for anything for Eve.
Dressing up, we both made our way to the car waiting for us, and, soon enough, we were on our way to the event.
Eve was always beyond excited and I just followed suit, doing everything she did.
The event was calm and nothing far from the ordinary, as people laughed, drank, and were happy.
I walked around with a drink in my hand taken in the beautifully decorated place, while Eve went ahead to greet some people.
My legs soon took me to the balcony, and I looked over at the view of the city. Mesmerized and so engrossed, soon I heard a strange male voice say.
''The city is beautiful,' the voice said, instantly getting my attention as I shifted my gaze to where the voice was coming from.
He smiled in an instant, extending his hand for a handshake.
''I'm Liam Paige," he smiled, saying.
''Tyler... Tyler Cain," I replied, smiling back at the handsome man in front of me.
So tell me Tyler, what do you like about this city," he asked.
Smirking, I looked back at the bustling city below me as a smile grew wildly on my face.
“Because it's slowly becoming a haven for me.”
