Denys

He waited until she was calm enough to go to shower. His heart felt like it had been shattered by what she had let him see. Just that small snippet into her past. Now she was safely away he could let his rage out, but now he didn’t want to. He could see in her eyes that she felt disgusting from what had happened, that he would be repulsed by her. The tiny shards of his heart ached with that very idea. He wanted to mend her. More then anything he wished that he could turn back time and have his people rescue her before she even went through a day of that.

He heard the shower stop and he took a moment to compose himself before she returned. Once she was dry she pulled on his jumper again. He kissed her forehead.

“I need you to stay away from the Medical Centre today, if you can.”

Melody gave a small shrug and nodded. She refused to meet his eyes and that bothered him. He held her chin gently and made her face him. Her eyes slowly drifted to meet his gaze.

“Melody, nothing has changed. I love you.”

He pressed a kiss onto her mouth. Then, he went to work.

Melody

She was drifting. He tried to hide it from her, that disgust that he felt when he looked at her. The pity. Everything that she didn’t want. He knew one of her deepest secrets. She sat on the sofa and hugged her knees to her chest, letting her long hair fall over her face.

Denys

He went to the medical centre. Saera was working hard to save the man. The one that he had seen in Melody’s memory. The one that had used her and threw her into the pond afterwards. He clenched his fists and took a few seconds to invision his fist connecting with this man’s head. No wonder Melody had stabbed him. Denys didn’t even want Saera near him. He linked with one of the pack guards, requesting that someone was watching this cat at all times. He was to go nowhere near Melody at all.

Denys next went to his office, calling a meeting with the elders as he did. Loren was already there and waiting.

“So I take it that your song had a good reason to try and murder someone within our walls?” He said.

“That cat r***d her. She hasn’t said how many times but he was one of the first when she turned fifteen.” Denys answered. He balled his hand into a fist then released it. “He was sent here for a reason, and I think that reason is her. He was, maybe still is one of her brothers closest members of the clan.”

“How is she?” Loren asked

“Ive never seen her like this.”

Melody

She was staring at the black screen of the TV when a message popped up on her phone. She didn’t need to look to know that it was Denys. She didn’t want to move. She felt like she would break all over again if she did. He was here… He had made her feel like he actually liked her over and over. Every time he hurt her he would apologise, he told her that Damon had told him to otherwise he wouldn’t have been allowed to see her. And when she was younger she had believed him. Until Damon allowed her to overhear what he actually said about her.

Her eyes filled with tears. Denys knew what she was now. He knew that she had been a w***e. She had been sold to whoever her brother had favoured at the time. And had even been his plaything. That is what hurt the most. And now she couldn’t hide it. She had broken one of the biggest laws in this world by laying with her brother. Her skin itched and she covered her ears and screamed, letting it all out.

Denys

He felt her scream, it was like a sword slicing straight into his heart. Loren and Orys both must have felt him move. When the other elders tried to stop him they both took his side. It took him moments to return to the house. Melody had locked the doors. He could see her on the sofa, her hysterical sobs rocked her. He fumbled with his keys, desperate to get to her. To have his other half with him. He wanted to take her pain away from her. She had left her key in the lock though. He was forced to break down the door.

It nearly broke him as her gaze snapped up to him at the door and she tried to escape. Her mind was stuck in her past and he didn’t know how to help her be free of it.
