On my return day, David Moore, my husband, who'd promised to meet me at the airport, suddenly had something come up and sent someone else in his place. But instead, that person blocked me at the airport and said arrogantly, "So you're David's close friend."

"Maplewood Road Estates. Get me there now," I demanded urgently.

Leo Miller, the butler, had called that morning, saying my grandfather had collapsed, so I'd taken the first flight back.

But they didn't budge, standing there like a wall at the arrivals gate and glaring at me with menace. "You b***h! I'll kill you today!"

A slap dazed me before more blows rained down.

Fortunately, I had some combat skills and flipped attackers onto the ground.

"Have you lost your mind? Is this my husband's idea of a welcome?"

Chapter 1
On my return day, David Moore, my husband, who'd promised to meet me at the airport, suddenly had something come up and sent someone else in his place. But instead, that person blocked me at the airport and said arrogantly, "So you're David's close friend." "Maplewood Road Estates. Get me there now," I demanded urgently. Leo Miller, the butler, had called that morning, saying my grandfather had collapsed, so I'd taken the first flight back. But they didn't budge, standing there like a wall at the arrivals gate and glaring at me with menace. "You b***h! I'll kill you today!" A slap dazed me before more blows rained down. Fortunately, I had some combat skills and flipped attackers onto the ground. "Have you lost your mind? Is this my husband's idea of a welcome?" Emma Brown scrambled up furiously after being thrown down, hissing, "You're just his friend with no boundaries. How dare you call him your husband? Today, I'm going to teach you how to keep your distance from a married man!" She produced metal rods from somewhere, swinging at me. Wrestling her arm down, I asked through gritted teeth, "Aren't we talking about different people? I hate cheaters more than anything. Why would I ever break up a family?" Spectators were gathering thick around us. Seeing the exit about to be completely blocked, afraid I wouldn't get out and make it home in time, I tried negotiating. "Lady, take complaints to my lawyer later. I'm rushing to a sick family—no time for this!" With that, I started pushing through the crowd. But then she pulled out a photo of my husband and me together. Without thinking, I said, "That's my husband and me." Emma completely lost it. "David always said you were his childhood friend, and now you call him 'my husband' in front of strangers? Oh, I get it! You pretend to be his friend, but behind his back, you're the mistress who slept with him!" The crowd I'd just pushed aside swarmed back in to watch, staring at me with strange looks, as if I really had done something shameful. Emma, smug and vicious, swung her pipe at me again. Blocked by the crowd with no way to escape, I took several hard blows. Sharp pain shot through me, and my entire arm went numb in an instant. My voice turned cold as I warned her, "My grandfather is critically ill today. I really don't have time for this nonsense. Get out of my way now, or expect a call from my lawyer." My grandfather has only me, his granddaughter. He always doted on me, even handing over the company he built from scratch. Now that he was gravely ill, there was no way I could be late! Emma snarled at me, venom dripping from her words. "Today I'll make sure you know exactly why you're getting beaten! I'm Emma Moore, David's wife, not some shameless mistress like you! You shameless homewrecker! Time and again, you used the excuse of being his friend to drag David abroad for sneaky flings, taking wedding photos, and meeting his parents! I swear, I will beat you to death today!" She ranted wildly while the pipes came down in a relentless barrage. I gasped sharply from the pain. As a woman, I understood the rage of being betrayed, but that didn't justify beating someone. With my bare hands, I grabbed the pipe and glared, warning her again.
