1234 Words
Danica's eyes opened slowly only to be s**t closed again. The beautiful sunlight streaming into her room, forced her eyes shut. Danica rolled over trying to get rid of the headache she woke up with. Last night's drinking had come to bite her in the ass, so much bubbly had been passed around as it isn't always when the future Alpha finds his mate, not only bubbly but other alcoholic beverages. Danica groaned in frustration as the headache didn't disappear, her eyes snapped open frustrated as sleep wouldn't take over. In her bed there was another figure sleeping away peacefully, she for sure knew it was not Avery, it possibly couldn't be. Without caring to check on the stranger, she kicked the sleeping figure off her bed and onto the floor, landing on the hard wooden floor with a thud. "Hey!" A grumpy James complained. "Shut up," Danica snapped. "Be quiet." "Why did you kick me off?" "Why did you sleep in my bed?" "I don't even know how I ended up here!" "Was that how drunk you were?" Asked Danica surpised because she can fully well remember last night's events, the kiss, Chris claiming Avery as his, the impromptu party and getting semi wasted. "I can't wait till Chris finds out you were in my bed." "He won't care like usual; he's found his mate now. He's whipped." James state as a matter of fact. Danica mused, the touch for a moment only to brush it away. Danica came down stairs in the gory of last night's aftermath. The only thing she was bothered to do was washing her face and brushes her teeth; she had thrown her hair into a bun on the top of her head. Still in her pyjamas she entered the kitchen where Avery was tossing over her omelette in the plan dressed in one of Chris's shirt with Chris sitting on the island across the stove. Danica walked passed her friend given her a look saying I know what you did last night causing her to blush beetroot. Danica poured two mugs of coffee with some milk and one teaspoon of sugar in both. She took it over to the island where Chris sat and took a seat next to him. She placed the mug on the counter inform of the empty seat on her right, taking a sip from hers. Danica looked at the omelette that Avery had placed in front of Chris. "That is not for you," Avery told her off. "Then who is it for?" "Chris," Avery blushed. "I get it," Danica wagged her eyebrows, before quickly shoving a slice of omelette into her mouth. "Fine, be like that." Chris chuckled. "Mate beats best friend," Chris stuck his tongue out childishly. At that moment James shuffled into the room without a word, taking the mug set on the counter. He raised his mug in thanks and took a long sip from it. "See you did the deed..." James said casually as if she was talking of the weather and not his alphas s*x life. The comment made Avery blush. "I see you crashed here last night, James." Christopher added. "In my sister's room, to be precise." Christ glared at James. "Will I be facing Lucy?" Danica asked a little eager to change the subject. "No, but you'll be set up with a professional trainer." Chris worded himself carefully, careful not to let it slip who her trainer was. "Oh, okay." "Why do you sound disappointed?" "I was hoping I could pound her face in, but I guess that isn't happening." Danica finished off her omelette than drank the rest of her coffee. "What's wrong?" She asked noticing Chris frowning looking at the letter in his hands. Chris looked up at her then back down the paper in his hands and then back a to her. "Bruce is back." The three simple words school the foundation of Danica's world; everything had been rocked and turned upside down doing a one-eighty. "Bruce," she said the name slowly. "As in Bruce, Bruce, the Cain's Bruce?" "Yes," he said slowly, never taking his eye off his sister. Danica slowly processed the words turning to James wide eyed. "Br-Bruce is back," she stuttered. She never in her wildest imagination imagined he would one day return to the Blue Moon pack, never in a million years she thought she would see him again, She had thought when he had left he had gone for good, but now here he had returned. James got up pulling her into a comforting hug," I know," Was all he needed to say because he understood. Avery looked back and forth between her mate and her two best friend as they tried to comfort an over whelmed Danica. She hated seeing her like that, but since she didn't have a clue what was going on she couldn't really help making her feel useless. "Guys," Avery called drawing the attention to her. "Who's Bruce?" Everyone went silent momentarily not answering her question when the boys turned to Danica waiting for her to response first. "It's Danica's story," Chris simply said, Sighing Danica spoke, "Bruce is a guy who disappeared and now has resurfaced. Chris frowned at Danica, "you owe her a proper explanation." "Fine," she sighed. "Bruce is a friend, Bruce was a close friend he was part of the pack a few years back this was before your family moved here a joined the pack. He...He one day decided to pick up and leave without a trace and now had picked up and returned without a notice. Bruce Cain has officially returned to the Blue Moon pack. Danica hadn't told her the full story on Bruce Cain, she had thought better of it. Danica provided just enough information to quell the questions. Avery nodded, taking in the story. "Then why do you look like you've been stabbed with a silver dagger?" "Bruce is my best friend, was my best friend." "Still is" Chris added quietly it hadn't gone unheard by Danica it was the truth in her hear she knew he will always will be her friend. "Don't worry," James said "I'll always remain here and so will Avery." "There's no getting rid of me," Avery assured her. "Chris," Danica began deciding it was time for a change of subject, she could later analyse the whole situation when she was alone from concerned eyes. "Since Avery had been your mate all along how did you not jump her the first time you set eyes on her?" Danica didn't understand that as it has been said finding your mate is pretty much love at first sight. "Dad and I were discussing that earlier today," Chris chuckled. "Don't get me wrong you're beautiful but I don't think its love at first sight exactly. there has always been a pull towards you Ave the attraction was always there but last night what pulled me towards you was that the pull was so strong it was unbearable seeing you about to kiss Adam," he shot Danica a not so playful glare. "So I acted out on instinct and when I held you in my arms, I felt the bond, I think the mating connection isn't just about first sight it also has to do with physical contact, it initiates the bonding, and it starts it all off making it stronger."
