17. The Unexpected

Danica had a plan, albeit childish she had a plan and she stood by it. It was simple and was bound to get on Mason's last nerve. She had one goal and it was to make her thick, stubborn mate jealous. She went over the plan once more as she sat watching the girls in class flirting with him so blatantly and he did nothing to stop them, he encouraged and flirted back and it pissed her off, making her mind up she decided she would put the plan into action now. She had enough. As if sensing her thought, his eyes met hers briefly, she sent him a sickeningly sweet smile, winking she sent a kiss his way. They were working in groups discussing the werewolf's anatomy, but from where Danica was standing everything but the topic were being discussed. "Ooh, are you mated?" A girl Danica had never bothered to learn the name of asked, Mason's eyes flashed over towards Danica, she gave him a small wave letting him know she heard the question. "Let's see your mark." The girl rubbed her hand over his biceps. Danica's eye's narrowed at the flirtatious gesture, which didn't go unnoticed by the man, all week Danica had been brushing him off, ignoring him as if didn't exist, as if what occurred hadn't bothered her, but today he realised the show she put on very well. "Ladies, I'm not mated." As those words left his lips squeals of joy were let out. "Yet." He added as an afterthought. Every time Mason saw her outside of class she was flirting with someone she knew he'd hate and simply getting under his skin and right now the table had turned but not for long. Danica was about to take it up to a whole other level. She stood, keeping her eyes on Mason making sure he was watching she sashayed over to James who was chatting away with a group of boys from the football team, she could feel Masons eyes on her, following her every move. Watching her like a predator would watch his prey, his eyes never left her body. James gave her a questioning look as he spotted her coming his way. At this moment she wished she could mind link him but she wasn't going to let it get to her, she c****d her head in masons direction, she watched as understanding flashed in his eyes. Her hand rested on his shoulder, moving to his hair, she toyed with it as she walked around taking a seat on his lap, wrapping an arm around his neck. Danica could see from the corner of her eye that Mason was fuming so she acted out on his reaction, slowly she buried her head in the crook of James's shoulder to make it look as if she was giving him a love bite, knowing James well enough to assume that he will act out as if it was really happening. James grip on her got tighter, holding her still. She could feel his enjoyment growing, his eyes rolled back with pleasure as he tilted his neck exposing himself to Danica to have her way with him. Mason watch intently as his mate gave another a love bit, only there was so much he could watch, sure sit on his lap but this, physical act of one's way of showing love, hell no. Not now, not ever. Mason couldn't keep it in bottled in, his grip on the wooden table imprinting the shape of his fingers where he was holding it, Mason stood up pissed off letting out a growl that echoed through the class grabbing the two's attention. He saw that Danica was flushed with a never seen before twinkle in her eye, which pissed him off even more, only he was allowed to bring that look to her. Only him. "Get out!" Mason growled at the two, pointing towards the door. "Get out now!" James took Danica's hand in his and led her out the room; the class broke out in a cheer as the two excited the room. "Silence!" Mason shouted. He followed them out after a while as he had cooled down to attend the two telling them how much trouble they're in. Outside James pulled on her hand, "Danica come let's go." "Where?" She asked. "Let's just get out of here," He suggested. "But, our stuff’s in there." "I'm sure someone will drop them off." He told her leading the way down the long corridor that lead to the dining halls. "Where do you think you are going exactly?" The voice travelled to them from behind freezing them in their position. Realizing they were busted lies and excuses began to form in their heads. Turning around they came face to face with the deputy head. "Sir," James began. "We were off the medical room, as you see Danica here isn't feeling so well, I think it's something she ate at lunch, from the school meals." He elbowed Danica hinting at her to act poorly. Danica wrapped her arm around stomach, doubling over as in pain on cue. "Oh I see, but the medical room isn't this way it's that way." He gestured in the opposite direction. "We know but what happened was she really, really, had go." James told the man. "You know what I mean, the lunch wasn't settling well with her." He shook his head. "You say school lunch, boy?" "Yes sir," he nodded innocently. "Well, I'll help you to the medical room, then." "Sir, don't worry." Bruce called out. "I'll make sure these two get to the right place safe and sound. You've got more important things to do, like check on the food seeing no one else ends up with Danica's conditions." "Oh right, I see to it then." He told the trio leaving them standing in the long corridor. Once out of earshot, Bruce asked. "What's going on?" "Danica's unwell." James continued with the charade. "Stop lying, tell me the truth." Bruce demanded. Danica continued with her act hoping to trick Bruce into believing them. "Give it up Danica, tell me the truth." Bruce ordered he wasn't having any of it. Danica straightened up, "How do you know we were lying, that was some pretty believable lying." She eyed Bruce. Bruce smirked. "Usually when things don't settle well for you, you empty your contents but not through your rare. Now tell me." Danica looked around, "well, not here. Mason must be looking for us." "Let's go my office." Bruce led the way to his new office that came with the job. Unlocking the door, he took his seat while the other two took the seat on the not so comfy couches. "Spill," he demanded. "Oh, where to begin," James mused. "Danica you start us off." Bruce suggested rolling his eyes at James. "Well..." Danica told him the story not leaving anything out. "So you're telling me that you got kicked out the class for no reason?" "Exactly! Can you believe that?" Danica scoffed. "Where's the professionalism? Where's the integrity?" "Such a shame, teachers these days." James tutted. "Do you have any idea how much trouble you're in?" "Pretty much, but this is where you come in." Danica smirked with another idea forming in her head. "You," she told Bruce, "Are going to say something along the lines of 'you were on your way and you needed help carrying equipment so you took us to help when you spotted us.' Got it?" "And if I refuse to help?" "Well, you may have been given this job but my brother still hasn't warmed up to you yet." Danica reminded. "Still, after all these years?" "Yep," she said popping the 'P'. "All I need to do is remind him, feed him a few new incidents." "You wouldn't dare." Bruce narrowed his eyes, eying her. "Try me," she smirked. "Still the same Dan I see," Bruce chuckled bitterly. "As always," she smiled at him ever so sweetly innocent. Bruce dropped the bags for the duo off, following through with the plan as promised. Danica was bouncing on her spot, having the feeling that today was going to be awesome, though she had nothing planned. Dressed up in her usual uniform, she left the house with Avery and Chris since she could get a ride and not have to walk it. In the car park Chris kissed Avery as their morning ritual, the student body as well as the staff stopped and starred, everyone knew they are each other's mates, and don't care if they get more attention than anyone else, seeing he is the future Alpha especially with the ceremony coming up that is only days away. Danica watched the two kiss then grab a hold of Avery's hand and pulled her away breaking the kiss. Chris growled in annoyance and Avery let out a gasp getting her breath back, only to turn scarlet. Danica shot her brother a grin and made her way off into the school dragging Avery along. "Well, that was fun." Danica commented in a singsong voice. "It sure was," Avery agreed thinking back at the kiss, sighing with content. "I'll catch up with you in a bit; I need to lie, my way out of trouble at the moment." She explained heading up the stairs. Danica nodded in acknowledgement, making her way to form. "James," she called out spotting him. "Danica," He greeted pulling her into a hug. "Did you get in trouble?" She stepped back and craned her neck to see in eye to eye. "Not really," he told her, James still had a hold on her hips. "Though they didn't buy the bull I was trying to sell them." He grinned remembering the story he had told to get out of trouble. "What about you?" "Nope," she grinned popping the 'p'. "They're too busy with the planning of Chris's ceremony seeing as it is one day away." The two stood, like that looking into their each other's eyes. His honey coloured eyes starred back at hers, without realising they both leaned in closing the space between the two until their lips touched. He captured her lips in his softly, kissing her, forgetting getting everything; the rule book was thrown out the window. The kiss was soft and gentle, until Danica responded back, which had sparked something in him, he kissed her back fiercer and with more passion. He pushed her against their form room door. He loved the way Danica was responding to him, the way she gripped his hair running her fingers through them. Without stopping, James slid his hand behind her opening the door and guiding them into the room, he shut the door continuing to kiss her. Danica to say she was expecting it was the least, she was shocked when he had captured her lips in his, but what shocked her further more was that she kissed him back, encouraging him. Danica did not regret this she was in fact enjoying herself. He was in control and she loved it. The door opened behind them they hadn't heard it being open nor see the person come in. Mason stood frozen as the scene unfolded in front of his eyes. Danica and James! James and Danica! The names of the two kept repeating in his head he couldn't comprehend the situation here, he had least expected this when he woke up and arrived to school. He thought he would be able to have chat with Danica about her actions yesterday and her disappearing act had him worried all night barely getting enough sleep, though Bruce had told him he took them to do a few jobs. Now this, he was surprise he wasn't fuming, he wasn't even shouting. The knowledge of what was happening hadn't sunk in yet, it still was skating around of the surface. Mason cleared his throat, calm as a clam, still they didn't response. The first bell went off startling the two into breaking their fiasco. Danica's shirt was messy the top button undone and tie hanging loose as James was kissing on her neck, she knew that it was a little red, and saw mason eyeing the spot she quickly fixed herself up as well as James his uniform was dishevelled as well. "Out of all the places in this three story building you decide to suck each other's face off in my class room?" Mason asked in disbelief his voice rising a little with every word he spoke. "It’s just a mere coincident." James spoke up, seeing Danica wasn't going to say anything. "You didn't mind when we did it!" Danica snapped at Mason. The three of them had a stare off between themselves, as the students began to pile in they broke away, the tension was thick in the room anyone who wasn't here previously could've tell. Danica wanted so badly to storm out the room, but instead she took her seat with James by her side. The rest of the day she avoided everyone, still pissed off about Mason's remark. She had spent lunch with Bruce and James eating it at the benches outside in the cold begrudgingly seeing as she wanted to avoid everyone. Bruce and James had joined her out in the cold, the harsh January winds weren't doing them any justice even though the boys weren't cold at all. "Stupid mutts," Danica cursed seeing none on the boys were affected by the cold fierce wind that sent Danica shivers. "Whose stupid idea was it to eat out here?" "Yours’" The boys told her in chorus smirking at her. "Oh," She remembered why she had came out, she was avoiding the world but most importantly she was avoiding Avery who would without a doubt tell Chris everything since mates have no secrets between each other. "So you guys kissed and he walked in on you." Bruce stated though it came out as a question. "Why? Whose bright idea was it?" He sounded snarky. Danica turned her head to James since he did initiated the first move and she did encourage it by simply kissing back. "Err," Danica opened her mouth. "A bit of both, he initiated it and I didn't stop it." She shrugged. "It was worth the look on his face." James piped in. The bell rang signalling the end of lunch and time for registration, Danica decided she was going to avoid registration since she didn't want to see his face, who was he to judge, he should count his blessing she's still a virgin, Danica thought, she bets he isn't one seeing how old he is who would be a 23 year old virgin? Well, there was that 40 year old virgin, a part of her mind reminded her, but that was a movie! The other part argued back. "James, tell Mason I'm with the head of year or Chris. "Chris doesn't work here, remember?" "Oh right tell him I'm in the medical office." "Why?" "I don't know make some bull crap up, you're a pro at it." "Gotcha," he winked. "Where are you really going to be?" "Art." "Okay kids," Bruce got up separating them, "I need to go I got a lesson to teach." Danica glared at Bruce's descending back not understanding why she was even hanging out with him-again. In art class Danica aimlessly drew, not focusing on the work at hand, instead her mind was wondering roaming the far corners of her mind, bringing up the buried thoughts and forgotten memories. Her mind fluttered back to her earlier thoughts, why was she still talking to Bruce all over again, why was she allowing them to become friends again. She had pretty much promised herself that this wouldn't happen this time round less than a month and he was back in her life, participating more than she saw Avery and they lived in the same house. Less than a month and she had broke her promise, it was almost as before like he never left. Danica sighed out loud knowing what she had to do this time around the same as last time, push him away once more, it was the best for everyone especially the people he loved and who love him.
