Jonathan soared through the sky in front of me. We had no idea where we were going, but it felt good to be actively looking rather than waiting. The only clue we had was that she was somewhere in the northern continent. The hotel was a stopping point, a place to think. We checked in, paid for a room, then left again. Jonathan was restless, which was never a good sign. “Anything?” I asked as I caught up with him. “Not yet,” he mumbled. “Let’s give it another hour before we go back.” I nodded and reached out with my senses. Magic left a distinct trail, so all we had to do was follow it. The view up here wasn’t bad, either. We soared over the ocean, the sun reflecting off the deep blue water. A lighthouse stood to my right, marking the land and warning sailors of the dangerous coastline.
