In the heart of a city divided by crime and corruption, two unlikely souls are drawn together in a deadly game of love, betrayal, and survival.

Detective Michael Reeves is a man on a mission, determined to dismantle the city’s most dangerous crime family. Haunted by the ghosts of his past, Michael has dedicated his life to justice—until he meets Aria Costello, the enigmatic daughter of the very kingpin he’s vowed to take down.

Aria has lived her entire life in the shadows of her father’s criminal empire, but she dreams of escaping his iron grip. When her path collides with Michael’s, sparks ignite. But as passion turns into something more, so does the danger. Michael’s loyalty to the badge clashes with his feelings for Aria, and soon, they are both caught in a crossfire of lies and bloodshed.

With enemies closing in from every side, Michael and Aria must decide who they can trust—and if their love is worth risking everything. As the streets erupt into violence and betrayal, one question remains: Will their love be the key to salvation or the trigger for their downfall?

"Love in the Crosshairs" is a pulse-pounding romantic thriller that blurs the lines between right and wrong, loyalty and betrayal. When love becomes the most dangerous game, who will survive the crossfire?

A City on Edge
The city was always awake. Even in the dead of night, the streets of Ashport were alive with shadows. The muffled sounds of sirens, distant gunshots, and the steady hum of illegal deals created a soundtrack that Detective Michael Reeves had become too familiar with. He drove through the winding streets, eyes scanning every corner, every dark alley. His jaw clenched as he passed through the underworld he had sworn to dismantle. Tonight, he was deep undercover. The leather of his jacket creaked as he shifted in his seat, a nervous habit he'd developed over years of working in dangerous territory. The familiar weight of his badge under the jacket was a silent reminder of his double life. He wasn't Michael Reeves tonight. He was just another nameless figure in the shadows. The mission was simple on paper gather intel, stay unseen, and report back. But nothing in this city ever went according to plan. “Keep your head down, Reeves,” Luke’s voice echoed in his mind from earlier that day, his partner’s warning more of a plea. “This case is already getting too messy.” Messy was an understatement. He gripped the steering wheel tighter as his car approached the club Mirage one of the many high-end joints owned by Enzo Costello, the crime lord who ran the city. His pulse quickened at the thought of getting closer to his target, the man he had sworn to take down ever since his brother had become collateral damage in one of Costello's deals. But Michael wasn’t just after Enzo. He was after the entire Costello empire, piece by piece. And tonight, he was one step closer. The neon sign of Mirage glowed, a beacon of wealth and power amid the decay of Ashport. Inside, the atmosphere was suffocating—thick with cigarette smoke and the scent of expensive perfume. The club was filled with a mix of high-rollers, criminals, and those who played both sides. Michael moved through the crowd with practiced ease, blending in with the sharks that circled the room. His eyes scanned the crowd, looking for the man who was his informant—an inside source who’d been feeding him information about Enzo’s latest moves. But his gaze caught on something else. Her. At first, it was just a glimpse—a woman in a sleek black dress, standing near the bar. She was striking, with raven-black hair cascading down her back, her green eyes flickering in the dim light as she surveyed the room. She exuded a calm, controlled energy, as if she owned the place. And maybe, in a way, she did. Michael’s heart skipped a beat as recognition hit him like a punch to the gut. Aria Costello. He had seen her in surveillance photos, but this was different. In person, she was more than the shadowy figure he’d studied in files. She was real. Too real. And right now, she was standing no more than twenty feet away, completely unaware of the storm about to close in on her. Michael’s mind raced. Stay focused. You’re here for the mission, not her. But he couldn’t shake the feeling that this moment was important that meeting her like this, in the flesh, wasn’t just coincidence. It was fate. Still, he couldn’t afford to be distracted. The Costellos were dangerous, and the last thing he needed was to be noticed by the wrong person. He slid up to the bar, ordering a whiskey to steady his nerves. From the corner of his eye, he kept watch on Aria, trying to figure out what she was doing here. She wasn’t mingling with the others. In fact, she looked almost…bored. Like this was all a game she was tired of playing. As Michael sipped his drink, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out discreetly. Anonymous: “Back room. 10 minutes. Alone.” It was his informant. Michael cursed under his breath. The back room. That was where the real business happened where deals were made, and lives were ruined. He had to go, but leaving Aria unattended in this crowd felt like a mistake. He could feel the tension in the room shifting, the air growing thicker, as if something was about to happen. But he couldn’t stay. He downed the rest of his whiskey, the burn doing little to calm his racing heart, and moved towards the back of the club. His hand hovered near the holster at his side, the weight of the gun a familiar comfort as he passed through a door that led into the private area. The room was dimly lit, with shadows dancing on the walls. A lone figure waited for him at the far end, shrouded in the smoke of a freshly lit cigarette. Michael approached cautiously, his eyes scanning for exits, calculating the risks. “You took your time,” the informant rasped, flicking ashes into a nearby tray. His voice was low, gravelly a man who had seen too much of the underworld. “I’m here now,” Michael replied, keeping his voice steady. “What do you have for me?” The informant leaned forward, the shadows shifting across his face. “The deal’s happening sooner than expected. Enzo’s making a move tonight, but it’s not just business.” Michael’s blood ran cold. “What do you mean?” The informant hesitated for a moment, his eyes darting to the door as if expecting someone to burst in at any moment. “There’s a hit out. Someone’s gunning for Enzo, but they’re not going for him directly. They’re going through his daughter.” Michael froze. Aria. His heart pounded in his chest as the pieces fell into place. That was why she was here tonight, not with her father. She was the target. Michael didn’t waste another second. Without a word, he turned on his heel and bolted from the room, his mind racing with a single thought: I have to get to her. The club’s chaotic atmosphere was like a maze, every person he bumped into a potential obstacle. His pulse thundered in his ears as he pushed his way through the crowd, scanning the bar for Aria. But she was gone. His breath caught in his throat. He had been too late. A surge of panic gripped him as he rushed toward the exit, hoping to find her outside. The cold night air hit him as he burst out of the club, his eyes scanning the dimly lit street. Cars sped by, their headlights casting eerie shadows on the pavement. And then he saw her. Aria, standing on the edge of the sidewalk, her expression unreadable as a sleek black car pulled up beside her. The door opened, and she hesitated for a moment before stepping toward it. “Aria!” Michael shouted, his voice raw with urgency. She froze, her eyes locking with his, surprise flashing across her face. But it was too late. A gunshot rang out, echoing through the night.
