When compared with the internet-connected, freedom of information age in which we now live, it can be hard to imagine the England of a mere sixty-five years ago. In the days before mobile phones and instant television news, the people of the time had a far greater respect for authority and for the edicts of government than they perhaps do today. So it was that in the aftermath of the plague that struck down so many in Olney St. Mary, and the subsequent actions of the soviet agents who did their best to destroy that small part of England in their greed for an advanced weapon technology, many strange events occurred.
