Was It His Mistake? “you will pay for what you’ve done. And I'll make sure of that…” the son snarled his blood shot eyes and grabbed his collar threatening him. Maybe it was just a mask covering his anxious, but shockingly doctor Ezekiel was too cool today for his usual hot personality. Without saying a word or explaining himself or saying anything in his defence, he just walked away, did nothing just walk downhearted. What it his mistake? Really? But I was with him the whole time. How can it be his mistake? Why is he owning to someone else’s? what could be the reason? The real reason. No… I have to know it. This is not fair. I have to talk with him. What is going on with him? “what is going on? What’s wrong with the patient?” doctor exclaimed upon entering the OR. “Doctor Ezekiel?” doctor Owen looked up. “I asked what is wrong. Why did you call me here? What is the emergency?” he asked again, loudly. Seeing the blank faces of everyone in the room he got agitated and yelled again, “would someone tell me what is wrong with the patient? Doctor Owen? Doctor Dave?” “his heart rate and blood pressure are drastically dropping?” Dave, the anesthetic doctor answered. “why? Is there some internal bleeding? Did some organs get hurt?” “no… then what? Step back let me check.” Doctor Owen and doctor Kevin were performing the below knee amputation procedure of the right limb on the patient. His right leg had no electrical activity and the infection was affecting his body. Although the right limb was now untreatable, left had an open fracture and can be fixed back. Doctors put the patient under anesthesia and started the procedure. “did the patient have any past diseases or anything he is suffering from now. Did you checked the patient?” he asked. “it looks like he has a chronic heart disease.” Owen said. “and you put him under anesthesia without knowing that? How much anesthesia did you gave him?” “75ml…” “are you crazy? Didn’t you know how much of it should be given to the patient? Are you really a doctor? Did you wanted him to die?” “the infection was getting up in his body. We thought it was more important to operate him as soon as possible.” OS (orthopaedic surgeon) said. “don’t you know how to treat a patient. How can you be this reckless? Will you take the responsibility of he falls into come or worse dies?” “doctor!! He is having a cardiac arrest.” He kneeled on the bed, pressing his palms together against his chest. “1, 2 ,3, 1, 2, 3,” “check the pulse?” “nothing” “I'll do it again….” “1, 2 ,3, 1, 2, 3,” “no improvement, doctor.” “nurse bring me the Defibrillator, fast” The nurse ran out to bring the machine. “gel” “yes” “120 joules” “yes.” “1, 2, 3, shock” doctor gave him the electric shock. “pulse..?” The doctor nodded his head in a no. “150 joules” he ordered the nurse. “yes, doctor” “1, 2, 3, shock.” “pulse???” “nothing still” “200 joules.” “yes!!” “1, 2, 3, shock.” “pulse??” “there is no activity doctor. I think it is the time.” He stood back on his feet. “time of death 12:30” “he lost his life because of your carelessness. Now who will be responsible? Huh? Tell me? and doctor Owen, what will you answer his family members? Answer me…” he exclaimed loudly.” “meet me in my office, fast.” He walked out of the OR. He was angered. Table death? The patient’s condition was serious but not as much to endanger his life. He threw his surgical mask and cap in the trash bin and stride to his office.
