“according to what I've studied about it, it is an object that is said to have some supernatural abilities to contain evil energies and is said to be made out of different body parts of several rare animals. It dates back to several centuries ago. In many Asian countries, people believed that it will protect their land and people from any disaster that might broke upon them. But it was stolen by a Japanese king in the fifteenth century from India and brought back to its kingdom. The stone was broken into many small pieces and given to every member of the kings family.” She told us.

“do you think it’s true? I don’t believe in such stuff...” Josh said.

“me neither.” I said.

“it’s more about faith. There is no legit way to prove it.” Said Cat.

“hmmm, that’s right….” He nodded.

“does this mean if what you are saying is true, then my friend here is from a royal family?” Josh asked Cat.

“maybe, I don’t know. But this is what I've read.” She replied. With a pause she said, “he could be or couldn’t be.”

“but how can you be so sure that this is the one? I mean what you are saying could only be a made-up story by some old bored geek for all we know.” They were being too interested in it. Just leave it be. Why the pointless discussion. “it’s just a stone, it’s weird that it will have such powers crystalized in.” He added.

“it’s not a debate whether it’s true or not, it was just a thought which I told you, that I remembered when I saw the crystal. Like ghost stories, some believes in it, I do actually but some don’t. so, what’s the big deal.”

“yes dude chill out, think of it as a story.”

“you guys are already ganging up against with me.” he said pouting his lips and scrunching his nose.

I laughed at his duality, he looked cute like a puppy asking to play in the garden. I heard giggles from Cat too. I can imagine her laughing even without looking at her.

“hey, Ren can I see your locket?? I really wanna see it up close?”

My whole body tensed at her request. I can't risk taking it off from my body for very long minutes. I few times I've tried this, but every time I was either alone at home or it happened for just some seconds. I took it away and wore it off, not much time in between. I don’t think it will be that quick here.

Uh.. help.

Should I just say no?

But how can I refuse her?

Ughhhh…..!!! it’s so hard, saying no is so hard.

“Ren???” she fanned her hand in front of my eyes.

“ya ya….”

“did you not hear me?” she said.

“oh yes!! Just a minute.”

What could I do?

I will do my best, not to be very conspicuous if anything happens.

I unhooked it from my neck and gave it to her. She was treating it like a fragile egg, careful and slow.

At least she won’t break it.

She was so keen about it that it was not possible for me to say no.

She was so hooked up at that stone like she was watching some bird dancing in front of her eyes. She looked that excited and curious.

Seriously, I don’t get people who have a thing for jewels or gemstone. They are all the same for me. maybe girls are more into it than guys.

“you guys entertain yourself and I'll be back in a minute….” Josh stood up and excused.

‘the less the merrier.’ I thought.
