Hiroshi said, “You sure it’s OK to leave him? We better send someone to watch him at least.”
“Sato’s not a runner,” Sakaguchi said.
Hiroshi said, “You’re leaving him there as bait.”
Takamatsu said, “That’s not a nice way to say it.”
Hiroshi said, “Why don’t we talk to the assistant in the morning?”
Takamatsu said, “Some people talk more if you catch them sleeping.”
Sakaguchi said, “She’s central to this.”
Hiroshi leaned back for a snooze. Takamatsu cracked a window to smoke as they shot through the expressways heading west from the center of Tokyo.
